Yeah it's pretty good. Really good
It's about a secret organization that hunts vampires. Two of their main operatives are vampires. It's really good the story line is basically some one creates artifical vampires, and they have to eliminate the problem.
It takes place in england, a Protasant nation (Christian), and if you know what's going on in N. Ireland (Protasants vs. Catholics) there is also a few references to that kind of battle through out the series.
It's got a lot of gore, and don't watch it when children are in ear shot. This is the kind of show that I really believe Cartoon network would be unable to edit for TV, even though there isn't any nudity. (But some suggestive situtions).
Good watch but I'm told it's not for every one.

They definitely need the second season. The first season is what is currently available domestically, and season 2 is in the works.
The animation and soundtrack are great, but the storyline ends very vaguely and is very inconclusive. Plus, the main vampire, Alucard, I found to be a fairly one-dimensional character without much depth.
A good series for action buffs, and fans of music, but the story needs desperately to be finished and some of the characters to be better developed, because as it is now, it left me very unsatisfied.
But that's just my two cents.

I thought that the series was really good and it does really need a sequel, there just wasn't enough there. However from someone who lives in N.Ireland like myself I found the politics a bit insulting, everyone here including the english hate the queen and the patriotism is rediculous but I can look beyond that how ever weird it is to see in an anime.
watch it, it's tres bien

is that true about the queen?
I know the Irish hate them, i didn't think English people did.
All the english imports here go one about the queen..
Theres only one Irish bloke in Hellsing, the Judist Priest, and i thought they did an awsome job with him.
And the patriotism was only within their organisation, not the general public. Or.. so i gathered., wouldn't mind knowing more about your pespective.
When i watched the Preview on one of my discs i signed it off as crap,
but, when i grabbed the series at a lan and watched it i couldn't wait to get my hands on the DVDs. It turned out in my opinion, and that of my friends that the Dubbing job was aswome.

yes it's true that the Catholic Irish hate the Queen but the Protestant ones love her for some reason, personally she disgusts me, she hasn't done anything and will never do anything worthy of her fame and fortune. She angers me. As for the english, the monarchy's popularity is like 15% or something, the Australians want her more than they do.
Judas Priest was from Rome was he not. The patrotism I think was there i the general public becasue they think that *SPOILER* Fergusson betrays the country at the end.
I just found it really weird to see these weird twisted politics in an anime, I wasn't expecting it, nobodies like that her not even the really die hard ones.
