Post corbo bash..... theres a pun in there!

Post by Gigundous » Mon Jul 29, 2002 5:40 pm

Well otakon is over, and i just got through a really shitty day at work. it was 100 degrees i was outside, i was still a little hungover, my wisdom teeth started coming in on the ride home from otakon, i think i musta kicked something really hard at the corbo bash cause my foot hurts like paizuri's face... Otakon was alot of fun and more importantly the corbo bash was a huge success, we somehow managed to cram like 60 people into a hotel room that wasn't as big as i imagined (there was only like 45 at a time in the room but probably 60 overall, i can't really give an acurate description as i was thoroughly intoxicated towards the end of the party. Thats all the description i wannna put into this post however because i'm lazy and describing that party will take a long long time with many people talking about what they did, as there was so many people that i was only in certain parts of the room for certain things. this i my time line of party, or how i remember it

Drinks at the corbo bar-
Mingle with the people in my hotel room and omar as he was first to show up... i think
Continue to mingle, more drinks-
More people show up! too many to post! also i don't know most peoples amv or studio names so you'd have no idea who i was talking about
Talk with bob and rick and brad about martial arts, saw bob get a random submission move pulled on him-
I think the tequila shot was about now, like 15 people for a mass tequila shot.... much goodness!
Drinks at bar-
continue to mingle/ put shaving cream on andy's stomach while he was passed out....
more mingle more drinks
DDR time- i was starting to get really drunk at this time
ddr time was over after me a charles made alot of noise time for asshole
this is where my night stops..... though i believe others can supply me with the facts of what i did after this, or if there was an after this..... great party... I'm actually quite suprised that i'm the first to post this.... sexy indeed!

The funny part was when someone knocked on the door and said they were from the other tower... They'd seen people playing DDR in the window and wanted all of us to join their party.

I can say I was indeed surprised to see some otaku come to our door and invite us to the other tower. Weird, but cool.

Indeed, doorman duty was not so bad as all that, since we spent about two hours talking about fighting styles, and yes, both Nick and Bob got submission holds on them. :-D

dji - As per your request, Gary was given a warm and loving hug when he showed up.

Much fun seeing everyone, even though the drive home sucked meaty platypus dong.

The bash definetly rocked. It actually reminded me of party life in college, just without frat boy types. Wait scratch that, there were frat boy meat heads, and even they rocked.

It was definetly rad to see a lot of kids again like Hsien, Andy (sorry about almost stepping on your balls dude), Jay etc, and to meet a lot of cool new folks like Scott, Vlad, Pat, Tim, Alan, Omar etc, and especially the duke kids who were fun to chill with the whole weekend.

The booze was ridiculous. If my car alone brought up 200 bucks worth of stuff, that bath tub had to have been stuffed with around 500-600 dollars worth of stuff at 1 point. It wasnt even crappy stuff either. Except for the Crystal Palace vodka. Shit tasted like road kill.

poor, poor toilet seat. It'll never work again. Those maids definetly had their work cut out for them. I wonder if they took the beer and wine we left as tip?

I'll have to think harder later to all the good stuff, but some funny memories off the top of my head.

-Brad and Charlene mumbling incoherently to each other as they layed trashed off their minds on the floor, but somehow they understood each other perfectly.

-Andy proving to me that I'm actually him, just white and 5 years younger.

-"What the fuck is the matter to you, take her to the roof, and if that doesnt work...stair well it!"

-Omar being the first to get there, and us nervously telling him there was no party because of his otakon staff t shirt. That is until he told us who he was and everyone went "Oh OMAR!"

-Tom in general. Kid was soaked to the bone in sweat and reaked of Jack Daniels. Tom rules.

Got to think of some more later, for now its time to watch new escaflowne box set. Mwahaha.

I stopped by for a while. Here's a funny (I hope) story:

I walked in with Vlad & Quu & Tim (Doki Doki). Quu had the list of winners of the contest, but couldn't announce them until 11:00pm, which was when they'd be announced at the cosplay ceremony. It was incredibly hot in there with about 30 people desperately trying to overpower the air conditioning and bring the room up to 98.6 degrees. People began opening the windows and it then hit me how weird that was that the windows could open ALL the way. You (and six of your closest friends) could have tossed a piano through them. As I'm absolutely terrified of heights, being close to open windows at that height (only 9th floor, but STILL!) was totally wigging me out. I even forgot about all the alcohol in my abject terror.

So, anyway, it was getting close to 11:00pm when it suddenly occurred to Tim and Vlad and I that Quu shouldn't announce the winners. People might jump out of the windows! We then started talking about how the police would have a really weird time trying to figure out wha happened. About 30 people all dead on the sidewalk. Windows open. The only evidence was a video tape with some music videos on it...

Around 11:20 I left to go to the screening of "This Is Otakudom." The screening was absolutely incredible. The room was completely packed, which made it around 600 to 800 people. I was in awe. I think I cried a few times when the applause or laughter was louder than I think I've ever heard before. Wow. Doesn't have anything to do with the bash, though! Sorry!

Yeah Scott ^_^ That was the first time I have ever seen Otakudom and I couldn't believe what I had been missing.

No offense against any pioneer people or fy dub people, but I thought your voice actors were far better than the oficial voices. Maybe because Tasuki had such a cool voice...hmm.... :)

Didn't make it to Corbobash sorry, just saw the opportunity to praise Otakudom. I was cheering and laughing out loud along with everyone else. Great job :o

Yup, the part rocked, Kudos to the Corbo-bash, my only regret is I couldn't stay longer, but there is always AWA :)

Wow. Thank you Misty. :) I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to meet you! I feel like I kept missing people. I know that tons of people that I know online were there but I met very very few of them. :(

Thanks for the kind words about our project. Yeah, "Tasuki" has a cool voice. Extremely cool. FAR too cool.

We had a lot of liberties that the producers of the actual FY didn't, though. For one, we had time. For two, I could reedit the footage to fit the voice actors. We even considered putting a "you know!" into "Andy's" lines here and there, but thought it would be too mean. Ah well!

Thanks again!
