Gary Jules' Mad World video(s)

Post by Trilaan » Wed Mar 05, 2003 9:02 am

A sad, depressing song, the only choice is a sad, depressing anime! Therefore, I submit to you, Grave of the Fireflies. Or Now & Then, Here & There. or a combination of the two, I haven't totally decided. So I'll probably do 3 versions. 2 separate and 1 together and let you all decide which one works the best.

Damnit - just as I'm finishing up my own Mad World video! Oh well, aren't there like 30 out there already? Every video I begin these days... I get an email from someone who's like "Done it!" Maybe it's about time to stop releasing AMVs alltogether... grah! Great song, by the way.

i wanted to do grave of the fireflies to Jimmy Eat World - Hear you me. But i decided against it because i fear that i would suffer a complete emotional breakdown in the making of that video.

Well, well

Nightowl, there's only two listed on here of this song. And, I have to say, both of them seem like less than useful uses of this song. As long as yours isn't to either of these anime, then everything's fine! I admit, even if you had I'd still do it. I love this song. The fast version is OK but it just doesn't have the same punch as this version.

NEVER stop making AMV's

MorningSon, that is my exact goal. Not just me but anyone who watches these when they're done. I want tears, baby! Tears!

Yeah, I will probably release it anyway : ) It isn't exactly done, so... it isn't up just yet. And it's definitely a match most people wouldn't go for - so it'll be interesting to see what kind of reactions will come out of the varying edits. Fun fun making videos fun!

Actaully, I really wouldn't reccomend Mad World for NTHT, especially since the second verse deals with school. I've thought about it and after already making a NTHT vid, it would seem very difficult to use properly. Something I've thought about that I'm not sure anyone else has caught onto, is it to Serial Experiments Lain. I was finally able to catch the series when it played on Tech Tv and lots of the lyrics seem to fit Lain pretty well. Instead of highlighting the wierd technological side of Lain, go for the depressing undertone of the series.

Hmm, the cover that was in "Donnie Darko". That was OK, but the original by Tears For Fears is the best (and just as depressing).
I'm out...

Mad World NTHT

Post by Trilaan » Thu Mar 06, 2003 5:38 pm

Guyver2019, My thinking is that, in such a case, the part about school is not a building with students, but the school of life. Shu's lesson is in survival.

Tom the Fish.....claymation? Nuh uh, I don't think so.

kthulu, I have heard both versions and I think, really, they are equally good. But the Tears for Fears version is just the wrong pace, for the anime I want to use, anyway.

I think I can make the first part about school work somehow. Well, of course, I could go from literal (Shu's training sessions) for the first half, then get metaphysical about the teacher bit.
