AMV Fun TV?

Post by Mirai MM » Sat Mar 15, 2003 7:29 am

Uh... Did anyone else get this e-mail or something along the lines of it? (If this was posted before, I'm sorry. I don't frequent the boards that often and failed to see if it was a repeat thread)

"Hi,

My name is Ernest Zamora, Jr. director and producer of Anime Fun TV. I had come across one of your Anime Music Videos and decided to present it on my TV show "Anime Fun TV" this show is shown in the San Antonio, TX area only since its on public access. Your AMV will be shown for free and there is absolutely not money being made off this video of your, our only goal is to present the best in Anime Music videos, so congratulations and if you feel interested in sending anymore AMV’s or if you have any questions what so ever please feel free to email me back!

On another note, we will be having an online vote at our website for anime shown, whoever gets the most votes in each episode the winner will be shown in an one hour special and the creator will get an award.

Thanks so much for your time

sincerely,

Ernest "UltraSonic" Zamora, Jr

Doesn't that seem just a bit, odd? There's quite a few of well named creators who's videos are being used for that site... Oh well... Thoughts anyone?

Hey,

Actually, I just got one as well. I'm not sure how the guy got my email address, though. Hmmm. I'm still trying to figure out if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I don't think the guy knows of this site yet because he has several videos listed as "unknown creator" when he could easily use the search here to find out who did them.

Hmmm...

Phade.

I never got one, probably because I'm not an AMV creator, but it does sound intriguing... :)

Feh. It's just rude to contact someone and say, "Hi, you don't know me, but I'm broadcasting something you edited, and you don't have a say in my decision to air it."
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

The show appears to be public access, and therefore it is subject to public scruitiny.

Has anybody contacted Time Warner in San Antonio about this? They are airing AMV's without obtaining permission from the creators first. I'm not too sure about it, but Time Warner would certainly reprimand the show, if not pull it off the air for such actions.

It's doesn't seem like a bad idea for a public access show though. I'm not sure I'd want to see it go away, but I would like to see their modus operandi change. I'm sure that people would be willing to give them videos to air if they asked for them first. That way things would be properly credited too.

The fact that he didn't ask permission to show these videos, either from their creators, and, most likely, from the companies whose anime are contained within those videos, makes me think it would be wise to reply to his email and ask that your video not be shown.

And if he refuses, get a hold of the Public Access TV station he is using and inform them that the guy is showing pirated material without the permission of the original authors, and they'll probably pull the plug on his show...

I'd be proud if an AMV of mine was shown on TV.
If you've seen his site, this guy has found the videos on kaZaa, and made the effort to send an email to each creator, telling them that they could ask him not to show their video...
So what is the problem with that ?

I think his real problem would be with the Anime producers...
