I just see his death as kinda noble, and on the same line with what I said above. He took the hit and did what had to be done so Van wouldn't have to.

I know a lot of people hate how he died since it seems stupid: he kills Dornkirk and then the sword breaks? WTF? Somewhat off-topic, but it makes sense. He says something about action and reaction being the strongest in the center of the machine. It makes sense that in killing, he is also killed. In any case, I find his death very noble as well. We knew he was going to die, but it was sort of redemption thing as well.

I'm a little late on this, but when I mention age... I guess I'm referring to the US standard of age appropriateness. Ultimately it should be up to the viewer, or parents, as to what's appropriate for us. Not some stupid Americanized industry. But since we do live with this americanized television then they should have shown it during the appropriate "american" time slot. You catch what I mean? I agree with you about age appropriateness, but what I was getting at is that if they're going to show Eva in the US then the least they could do is show it during the time slot that would require the least amount of editing.

(nod nod) although I think there are some things in the world "kids" shouldn't be seeing regardless of what their parental unit thinks. When I was in HS, I worked at a movie theater and I don't think taking your 8 year old child to SouthPark is a smart move. The TV standards do have some basis (although IMO out-dated). I do agree that some things are way to strict, but there do need to be limits. I personally don't think a child could comprehend Evagelion other than the mecha. Hell, I even know a lot of adults who can't comprehend it (myself included haha) or choose not to.

Hey don't hate on cartoon network, it provides a needed service, it introduces anime to people how would become fans and supporters.

The japanese do have time slot for more muture animes that they don't want their kids to see. Some told me that tenchi gxp is only shown prime time there, and I seen some of gxp and understand why.

Not to sound like an ass, but we covered that :). I agree that Cartoon Network is good since it has definitely doubled (if not tripled) the anime community. I guess this thread is just b/c I hate seeing one of my favorite shows becoming one of their "introductory" (dubbed and edited) shows.

yeah to mention we don't want these stupid new kids in our community. and as our numbers tripled, stupid american kids now form the majority or our people. You used to be able tot alk to ANY anime fan and have a decent conversation with them, now it's ahrd to find a smart or well educated one, because they're all stupid kids.

Yes, THANK YOU VERY MUCH CARTOON NETWORK!!! For turning our community into mostly nitwit kids. Wasn't that just lovley of you!

Sure you have a point, and it's good on some elvel that more and more fans are coming about, but you can't just say "don't knock on cartoon network" There's plenty of reason for any of us to be pissed.

well it'd be nice to share the love and educate the n00bs, IF ONLY THEY WERE WILLING.

You're right, no one's a guru from the start, how ever these new kids drawn in from Toonami seem to think that they are.

[sarcasm]
I mean didn't you know? They know 50 million kazilion times more than we do.

You do have a point. These are generally kids who think they know everything (I know I used to). As Tim Park's "Right Now" video says "Right Now someone thinks they're a Japanese Animation expert even though they've only seen Akira and a few Dragonball Z episodes and they just won't shut-up about how Goku can kick everyone's butt" (No that is not from memory, I opened the video file and paused it :-P)).

(Sigh)
