Whats wrong with subbed...tons of anime is much better watching subbed...you actually get to see what they are saying instead of the censored "American" version

Modern dubs aren't "censored," although they tend to be edited to sound more eloquent when spoken, as well as to appropriately fit mouth movements.

Modern as starting when? Maybe not censored, but definatly changed...lets talk mainstream anime, Cowboy Bebop, I am sure we can agree thats a well known anime. In the dubbed version in many episodes, they just added speach to were there was none in the jap language version. Sometimes the dubs don't even come close to what the subs say. Or maybe it should be the other way around...but if i am correct the sub versions were released way before the dubs, and they stayed the same when they shipped over to america, so you got the real jap translated subs with the english dubs...kinda silly really

Case Example #1542a: The Obsessive Subtlte Purist

Melfina is what we call an Insane Subtitle Purist. This individual feels that no subtitled anime is watchable, let alone good. As the subject's belief is based purely on biased emotion and has no logical standing whatsoever, the individual's opinion can not possibly be changed through any normal means.

Subjects of this type are classified as "hopeless" with regard to ever talking sensibly or logically about the matter.

ya thats the problem with dubbed footage online, the quality is not as good as it would be fansubbed. *sigh* i perfer dubbed b/c i dont have to take the extra wasted time to edit out all the subs.

Well, I have nothing against subtitles, but I need it dubbed, wll just non-subbed, for my videos, in case you didn't know, subtitles are annoying in AMVs. Wel, they annoy me anyway, i don't know anyone else's opinion.

While I consider the Bebop dubs one of the better ones out there, I almost always prefer subs.

Generally, I think the Japanese spend more time/money on the voice acting. When a company like Disney(yuck!evil!) forks out the cash for a movie like Mononoke Hime, they also put out the big cash to hire excellent voices for the dub.

Not to dis the usual suspects who dub anime, but ADV, Bandai, Pioneer, et al are getting their money's worth, not several hundred thousand dollars worth of dubbing.

Mostly its a small market, allowances have to be made.
(my allowance is to watch the subs)
