I grew up on things like the loin the witch and the wardrobe..
another of my old favs was 'The Last Unicorn'
Damn that was an awsome movie. (for its time atleast)

BTW, i'm not just into anime, I watch Maclom in the Middle and Southparth ever 2nd or 3rd week. And i even saw a ep of Simpsons last night. Thats all though, TV these days is importing all american 'reality' TV. I don't know who's reality that shit is, but they have alot of issues. Anime seems to have more... feel to it then the shit on tv. And, comericals are evil, we have these hungry jacks adds, (fast food company, i believe the yanks call them Buger King) and every one i've even seen made me want to kill whoever appeared on that add. (why is it commercials are never blamed for causing voilence?)

So for me, anime has plenty of advantages, the romances keep the romantic inside of me happy and the bloody ones ammend the trauma of having to deal with TV commericals. Not just anime though, seen a few good movies lately but being an anime forum, no point mentioning them

ps, Loin King rocked. Best Disney film i recall though would have to Aladin. Damn that was some funny shit. *ponders seeing if the local video rental shop is still in business and scope some disney films of old*

why do you like/dislike it?
I mean, what so good about it and what separates it from standard entertainment mediums.
i've always depended on anime for a feeling apart from simply entertainment.. it's my home away from home, my which does not exist, my drug which is used to escape reality. and forever will it drain away from my seemingly worthless life. :?

i've watched anime ever since i was six in Korea, and by God they were the funnest/funniest things ever. if only anime didn't deprive me of sleep and friends up until now (notjoking), i luv and hate it at the same time. :!:

I agree with all of u here. as far as me, i have always watch cartoons, but by the time i really got into japanese anime, i was looking for something new and something interesting; i was getting really tired of the same Ol' crappy TV shows and the same stupid movies, that in the end doesnt leave nothing in your head.

Even the japanese animation is awsome, what i really like are the plots, cause the japanese make nice complex stories, that made u think , and feel diferent types of emotions. Like some of u said, watching anime is like reading a good book.

Let me help you out with a bold in your statement. Perhaps you meant to say that though...

Oh BTW in case you really don't know the story. The Lion King is a complete rip-off of the anime classic Kimba the White Lion. The story is EXACTLY the same except the lion is white. In fact, I *think* the creator even tried to sue Disney, but...well...it's Disney.

I guess what I'm getting at is that Disney isn't exactly the greatest entertainment company ever as people think and say. I can go further if you'd like with stuff like them funding Natural Born Killers and stuff with their other companies while maintaining their image, etc. etc. Disney = a bunch of BS.
