I'm going to bring this up again... because I'm an unrelentless bastard...

Sarah, look at jBone's vids. I mean, his latest was amazing. And yet here he is saying his vids suck... and he even got nominated for a VCA or two. It's all relative.

Anyway, on topic...

I got lucky with hosting and was abducted and dragged into an existing studio. Those of you without hosting... lurk around for a bit, find someone with hosting who doesn't use it all... and become good friends with them!

Well, to be fair, I used to use freakin' FilePlanet (the only halfway decent free hosting out there. But I still agree with Garylisk that they do suck on a lot of points. But if you're po', or between switching hosts, they have some good advantages).

I got hosting from two extremely charitable people here (Ean of Deathgatestudios and Mike Gallart of October20.net). The trick is to look for people who are offering hosting, not come out of the blue and ask Random Person With a Studio. Chances are you will be refused if said Random Person hasn't specified that they have extra space and are willing to share. That's how I came across Ean. I was browsing the forum to see if anyone had found a good hosting deal, and he was actually asking for videos to host so he wouldn't waste all this extra bandwidth. I asked, and now my two completed videos have a happy home (until the Carrot becomes available to everyone. Then he can decide whether he still wants to host them or not).

But yes, there ARE ways to get free or very cheap hosting. Although be warned that it will more than likely be temporary. My advice: it's all about the Donut, baby. Support the Golden Donut and your worries will be over soon enough.

I've got lots of AMV's that I've made over the past few years... But for me the problem isn't being unable to get hosting. The reason I don't upload them is mainly because of the fact that I make these videos for me, and not for anyone else. When it comes to displaying my creations publicly I find that I just get WAY too critical of my work and all that constant second guessing takes its toll on the fun factor.
