Fanservice idea....with a twist

Something I'm sure hasn't been done very often because just finding the necessary source is a search worthy of Indiana Jones.

The twist?

Fanservice....for girls.

Rarely do you see fanservice in anime geared towards women the same way it's geared towards guys. Even in shoujo series where most of the audience IS female, we still don't get our fair share of drool-worthy shots (yes we girls check out guys' asses and such just as often as you guys check out ours).

So I'm hoping to put together a women's fanservice video. The problem is source. If anyone can point me to anime that has female-oriented fanservice, please do. Preferably shirtless guys and/or ass shots. And preferab;y not a yaoi-oriented show. Just don't mention DBZ, because I don't want to use it unless I've got to (I'll admit that for being a male-targeted show, it's got far more male nudity and partial-nudity than female).

So far my list of sources is

Gundam Wing (the bath scene with Treize, specifically)
Cowboy Bebop (Spikes lost his shirt a couple times)

Thank you already for not including DBZ, 'cause those guys are ugly. Yes, they're naked, but who cares; they're still not fanservice.

I'd argue also that male fanservice isn't as straightforward as female fanservice - with a girl you just have to show some cleavage or a panty shot and it's automatic, but considering that women's fixations vary more, there's no one body part that automatically is going to make every single one of them drool. (which is why the ass-shot idea bothers me. >_<; but it's your vid.)

Fanservice featuring guys would be more in how they look and are presented and not just "ooh body part". Or nudity, which is what makes it complicated to spot if you don't actually LIKE guys... for instance, the "Vash looks badass" moments in Trigun come to mind, but I'd wager that most people wouldn't peg that as fanservice. It's just damn good-looking.

Unfortunately, just about anything I can think of is un-naked, already named, or out of bounds (Yuki from Gravitation spends most of his screen time posing prettily).

Eh, it's difficult because of the way "fanservice" is defined here... my brain doesn't work like that. heheh.

(Aside: I'd thought of doing a pair of fanservice videos, one of guys and one of girls, but it'll probably be thousands of years till I have a DVD collection big enough to attempt that.

i might be remembering this wrong, but wasn't there a bath scene in Evangelion that included Kaworu?

Tenchi the Movie 2 has some nice stuff... (tenchi loses his shirt in a fight against Mayuka... not to mention the, uh, interesting bedroom scene... *sweatdrop*

oh, and Gravitation. it has to have fanservice, it's freakin' yaoi!

Yeah, there is a marked difference in being "just good looking" and actually being presented with sexual intention (which is what fanservice is I guess whether the character is showing skin or not).

What I meant about preferably non-yaoi or non shounen-ai oriented was that I don't want to use shots of guys kissing. But shots of characters alone and presented with sexual subtext, be it pose, camera angle, or even facial expression (you know what I mean), are pretty much what I'm looking for. If those shots come from a yaoi or shounen-ai series, I'll still use them.

Yeah, Mamoru, I forgot about the infamous shower scene from Eva! Thanks! And I was going to mention Fushigi Yuugi, but since I have to date only seen the first two episodes, I wasn't sure how much service was in there.

Oh, well heck, that's understandable. And at least a good bit of stuff in shounen-ai IS just one at a time, so okay... (And as for that dream sequence,

And I see your point about defining fanservice that way - and yes, good luck on finding THAT.

Maybe it's just the culture? Even here you don't see much sexually intended shots directed at women. They're fed lots and lots of romance, but not too much innuendo. That does make it more difficult. hmm.

If you have the late episodes of Utena, uhhh... yeah. Akio comes to mind. Ripping rose petals off with his tongue.

Dang.

Ah, I'd forgotten about FY. I've only seen about 7 eps, but there seemed to be a good number of misty-sparkly "dreamboat shots" in that one.

Ah, yes, the shower scene in Eva..(That's my new Avatar! ^-^ Of course, it's been turned into crappy-ville..)

Anyway, the Utena movie has some interesting shots of Touga. Especially that flashback when he's in the garden and the moths.. -shiver-

Anyway, Shoujen-ai might be a good idea...
