Demuxing Comments?

Post by mofisto » Sat Aug 03, 2002 10:23 pm

I in my endless search for different vobs editing methods found a sight that suggested using a program to demux them. And you end up with the m2v file and the ac3 files. I was wondering what peoples thoughts on this process where. I tried a couple of demuxers but they all crashed on my system. Probably too much strain for my computer. Oh well, just asking because I figure if anyone knew it would be the fine members of a-m-v.org

Thanks in advance.

I'd use smartripper which will demux to seperate files if you ask it to when you are ripping the dvd.

Alternatively, tmpg can do demuxing.

Okay well thats all well and good, but I want to know if this is just a waste of time or what? I would like to know what people think of this method before I waste my time and do it then find out it is worthless

using m2v files for editing isnt very stable. At all. It relys on direct show filters which aren't designed to be frame-accurate.

The best way is dvd2avi -> avisynth.

There is no other way that comes close to the stability of that method.

This method works fairly well, I use it. Only bad thing is that sometimes Premiere goes slow when editing with MPEGs, but it's better than using DiVX in a video.

Okay well I went through and demuxed my first vob. I used TMPGEnc to do it. When I tried loading it into premeire it locked it up. I can play it in Media Player but after 8 secs it stops. I can drag the progess meter a little ahead and it will start again sometimes. What's going on here?
