Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I dont think that's the difference at all. The only reason vlad, koop and I have done these masocistic effect videos is because we got this idea stuck in our heads and then realised when trying to attain it that it was actually possible.
I'm sure lots of people can do videos like this if they have a vivid enough idea and actually perservere.

Nah, don't let my pessimism and lack of confidence fool ya. I'm just being negative. I do agree (when I'm not down on myself) that all that really matters is having a vision in your head. I don't think there is a RIGHT or WRONG way to do videos (like some step-by-step way, which a lot of ppl seem to be looking for...take the questions on this thread). I think 80% (if not more) is the idea/vision/motivation part.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:I dont think that's the difference at all. At the same time, I think it's quite possible to not be "flashy" and still do an effective job. I think Vlad's newest videos and most of Hsien's show that.
So in conclusion...sorry for foolin' ya with my pessimism...it's all good I appreciate it though...

It really goes to show that almost anything is possible... The only limitation is how much time one wants to spend on doing it.. But in the end when I invision an impossible idea for an AMV I never question if I can do it, but rather if I really want ot spend the time doing it.. Big difference there...AbsoluteDestiny wrote:I dont think that's the difference at all. AHAHAHA. I'm sorry guys, it's easy for you, but it's not easy for all of us.
Like I said. Go write a bestselling novel that will make people cry with its wonderfulness. *claps hands* RIGHT NOW. I mean hell, you just have to have a vivid enough idea, right? Go do it.
Ahaha. No, I don't freakin' think so. What is easy for you is not always so easy for everyone else.
Just understand that everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Personally I find it rather insulting to be told "Oh, anyone can do this, it's EASY." Bull. It is for you, but it's different for everyone. Me, with enough coffee I might be able to shut myself in a room and write a bestselling novel. But perhaps you couldn't. Conversely I can't sit down and make a badass video. We're all different.
...you know?

Some girl commands a guy to write a bestselling novel, guy tries, girl hates it, guy tries again, girl hates it, guy tries again...SarahtheBoring wrote:AHAHAHA. I'm sorry guys, it's easy for you, but it's not easy for all of us.

Heck, you've got the makings of an existential postmodern analysis of the drudgery of the contemporary industrialized world, in which we place so much emphasis on the equality of all, and refuse to acknowledge individual, fundamental differences in basic nature of character! It'll make a philosopher cry, and I bet I've made some of you people out there cry with my blatant abuse of extraordinarily long words!
Do YOU have hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?

I don't think they meant to insult you perse. I agree on the strengths and that's something I think people need to realize. We're not all meant to be AWESOME AMV creators. I find it kind of irritating that all these people are asking how to "do" it, like there's some "answer" and manual to create awesome videos. Kind of like, "once I know this effect all my videos will be awesome."SarahtheBoring wrote:AHAHAHA. I'm sorry guys, it's easy for you, but it's not easy for all of us.

It's all about concept and vision. Technical things can be taught, things like this involve a degree of creativity. We're not all right-brain (or is it left) oriented. Ask me to design a computer chip in Verilog, sure. Ask me to think of a great AMV...we might be here awhile. At the same time, I am satisfied regardless since I have fun making my mediocre videos and :gasp: I like 'em.
At the same point, I think they're trying to say that *if* you could up some great vision in your head, if you are dedicated enough, you can make it become a reality...even if it's very difficult effect-wise.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well I never once said it's easy... hec, I look at many video and thing to myself how on earth was that done... All I said was that it's obtainable.. As soon as you set your mind as the task being impossbible, it will be. Yes, it's harder for some and easier for others and even a nightmare to lots, but it's not impossible... Now in terms of a good video, we are just talking about doing digital effect/composition editing here...SarahtheBoring wrote:AHAHAHA. A good video is a combination of a lot more things. I do believe that all of us at some point can all make a real good music video.... How easy is it? That all will depend on the individual....
