Well to a degree, that is all you need. I don't think ANYBODY here said getting a vision was easy. I don't think all of us could come up with an awesome AMV. Like I said (as you have as well..hence the confusion for this discussion), not all of us are meant to be awesome AMV editors. It's plain and simple. Each of us have a different set of traits and for some AMV editing isn't one of them (I might add that if this is something quite trivial to be lacking. That's a lot better than say being incompetant or lazy...we should be thankful...sort of). Some of just don't have the vision/creativity.

I don't think Vlad, Ian or Jay are trying to belittle it down to something as simple as...just doing it. I think they are saying that ONCE you have a vision, it's just (there's that word again) a matter of hard work and effort.

Now, I also don't think they mean to belittle "effort" and "hard work" (hell...it's called HARD work for a reason) either. I think what they are getting at is that IF you have a vision (or the creativity) and you put the time into learning things and working on it...you'll probably make something pleasing (at least to yourself). Technical things like learning effects is something we can all learn. It's just tedious...which is why people are turned off to it. I honestly think if you're dedicated enough..you'll learn it. However, again (see I did it) I don't mean to belittle hard work and dedication. It's not easy. And again..it all goes back to having the creativity/vision to even come up with it. If all of us had that, the AMV community would actually be a pretty boring place IMO.

On a side-note, looking at your journal and this thread, I think you have a real self-esteem/confidence issue that you may want to look into. If you think your work is crap...well...why do it? I don't think anyone should be "forced" into something as trivial as a hobby only to be displeased with their work. It all comes back to having fun and self-satisfaction.

Either way, if I make the mistake of making it sound so simple again, I apologize. It's also kind of hard for me to say it's easy when I myself can't make anything beyond mediocrity (mediocre things that I enjoy though). (shrug).

I forgot to mention, I don't think they just forget you guys exist...hell they post in these forums to and try to help out. This is a community (or at least I like to think we try to be) and I don't think they are ignorantly blissful to the fact that some people are struggling. Just because they make good AMVs, doesn't mean they're these godly high society folk. In fact, I talk with some of them and they're quite friendly and human...well maybe except for Koop...he's just a 'tard

At the same time, just because an AMV isn't the next SRV or something, doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. I know people will laugh, but there are even a handful of Linkin Park AMVs I like. It's an artform that we share with each other and some people like it, some people don't. I don't think the "good" editors just choose to ignore everything else....

See, that's what I don't get. First, you say that it takes more than just effort and whatnot. And then you say it's easy for everyone. Frankly, I think we just have different interpretations of 'easy' because I don't think it's easy for most people.

I understood the metaphor... but all I was saying is that it isn't easy for everyone here.

Emily Dickinson, though was a good poet, was a serious..uhm..well..I guess..a brat would be an answer. She was in love with a married man, and when she couldn't have him, she became quite anti-social and wore white, as if she was dressed for the wedding she'd never have...why? Why not just try to go find someone else rather than someone who you would know better than to try to have an affair with? Frankly she couldn't get what she wanted and threw a fit.

Not to bash Dickinson fans, I just wanted to point out this fact. She reminds me of every angst filled song I've ever heard.
