A-Kon/JACON Conference Call

As many of you know, A-Kon and JACON fall on the same weekend (May 30th - June 1st). Since I am not able to be in Texas with my La Familia brothers, I was planning on calling them sometime during the convention. Then I had this wonderful idea: "Why not orchestrate a humongeous conference call between all the AMV creators at both JACON and A-Kon?!"

My mind started going off on tangets, thinking of things like speaker phones, video conferencing, etc. First off, the big question is "Who is interested in a conference call?" I know the RVP and Hypeo crew would be down for me calling them, but what about everyone else? Who all would want to be involved? Who has a phone that can be used for conferencing? Would there be anyone willing to bring equipment for video conferencing and such? I'm not exactly a technical wizard by any means, so I really don't know what all would go into this endeavor. There's still over a month to plan this thing, so I figured I'd get it out here as soon as possible.

d00d! That's a great idea! If it were in Austin, I could help out with video-conferencing and whatnot, but well..it's not .

IIRC Ian, Tim, Hsien, MTT, EK, Vlad (unsure on this..maybe it was Otakon) and so on will be at JACON.

No, they'll all be at JACON (maybe Otakon as well). Why can't you help in Austin? Are you not able to transport the equipment? Please keep in mind that I truly have no clue as to what is required, so I may be asking you to move something the size of an X-ray machine without knowing it

Yeah I know they're gonna be there..that's why I...said they'd be there . Only one I'm unsure on is Vlad. I believe almost all of them (subtract MTT) will be at Otakon as well. Curious as to why Ian picked JACON as one of his US cons since it's smaller. Then again, a lot of people will be there (shrug).

At my office we have tons of video conferencing room (yes I said ROOMS). The equipment necessary is quite expensive and bulky. Then again, the hotel we are at for A-Kon is pretty big, so it's quite possible they have the equipment to begin with. How about you guys? Perhaps the MTT gang would know since it's their local con.

Since Vlad is nice enough and I know he'll respond, don't bother. He IS going to JACON. All I had to do was read a previous thread where he replied to me...just figured I'd post that and save you a post

I chose Jacon mainly because of my participation in the Disney DDR project which should be showing there... that and a lot of my friends will be there.

Plus florida in june sounded appealing

Yep, will be a JACON (And Otakon) and will even have something in the contest! I really had fun with my Disney DDR track and sure the project is all done for the con! Ironically, I think it's the most funnest track I've done for DDR and probably me best!

Yep, Florida is so appealing by that time of year

LOL! Florida appealing Not unless you've lived here all your life. Of course, after a few years you get used to the muggy heat, constant rain and clouds of mosquitos

But getting back on the topic at hand *ahem* would anyone be remotely interested in the whole conference call idea?

A new video? Wow...hope you put it up after the contest . I hated waiting so long for "I'll Stand by You" and AWA. By the way, nice grammar....unless you meant that (btw I'm only nitpicking b/c you seem to generally have good grammar).

Texas isn't appealing that time of year....100 degrees, sunny and no breeze. Yay for A-kon .
