The one thing I hate more than bad anime are animes that tarnish the name of a GOOD anime.
Therefore.... I wish I could find everyone responsible for El Hazard: The Wanderers and beat them until they promise not to make anime anymore.
The original El Hazard 7 Episode OAV is one of my top 10 all time favorite animes and I consider the top-notch quality of thise series to be sullied by the foulness of both El Hazard OAV 2 and El Hazard: The Wanderers.
In the those two titles... all the aspects of the characters are reduced to 2-Dimensional (and even one-dimensional) versions of themselves... the show is dumbed down so it can be more like all the other generic anime titles. The world of El Hazard (which had a lot of detail and a certain sense of style) were ignored.
Hell... in both OAV 2 and The Wanderers, the 3 Priestesses who had these very cool gadgets to activate their powers no longer had those gadgets and all the cool effects of their powers were reduced to bad Street Fighter Hadoken blasts.
A standing rule in my home is that if any copy of The Wanderers comes into my house, it will be broken, burned and otherwise destroyed. It should NEVER have been made.
Damn Pioneer and its endless need to whore their own titles. (How many Tenchi continuities are there now? 34?)

of all the animes that i've watched there are only two that i didn't like very much.
One of them was Mezzo Forte, i'm not even sure why i don't like it, i jsut don't like it.
*Kare kano spoiler ... Sorta*
And the other one was Kare kano, it was good, but a little past half way though the series i just lost my desire to watch the series and ended up forcing myself to watch it. The fact that they made it so the manga picked up where the anime left off sort of bothered me too, because i wanted to find out more about Tsubasa and her step-brother to be.

Haven't any of you realized that 96% of the anime ever made is total crap. The lack of creativity, convoluted scripts, poor animation, cliche characters, sub par voice acting (on both sides of the pacific), etc, does little to inspire me.
Even Hayao Miyazaki long ago fell into many of these ruts. Though I had hoped he was pulling out of them with Mononoke he fell right back in with Sen to Chihiro.
Yet I remain a general fan of anime as there are people in the community that I like, and there are indeed those few gems that twinkle along that make me happy I took the time to watch.

If it makes you feel any better I bought the first disk when it first came out and only watched the first three episodes before I took the disk out of the player, put it back in case, and put it on a shelf. I haven't touched it since.Propyro wrote:*Kare kano spoiler ... Sorta*
It's bad when an anime makes one hate all of the main characters.

Look... most of ANYTHING is mostly crap. A lot of movies made here in America are crap and even MORE of the TV shows made here are crap. A lot of anime titles are crap as well.earthcurrent wrote:Haven't any of you realized that 96% of the anime ever made is total crap. It's not a mystery... I've brought up the same point in the past.
I mean, even GAINAX let me down. After releasing all these great titles (and I've really loved everything GAINAX has released) they suddenly put out Mahoromatic... which was so bad I couldn't get to episode 4... and I sold the DVD so it wouldn't contaminate my home.
I just don't know where you were going with your comment.
I try to celebrate the good stuff when I see it...
