I was William Morris in Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories
Gordo the Bear in Fist of the North Star (TV series)
and George in NieA_7

I've done walla in many anime titles including The Big O, the new dub of Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Mysterious Play, Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket and many, many episodes of Fist of the North Star.

THANK YOU! (although I said the same thing :-P...don't get me wrong though, I'm glad to see support)
well, im hoping we can stop having these arguments, they go nowhere, and basically, just count posts, that all (its good to support the defenders of the true faith  )

a couple things about voice quality that seems to be a universal gripe and complaint:

one: the "Lie about your age" voice actress. YOu know em. Voice actresses playing role entirely too young in throat for the age the character is. . .

offenders:
Kamiya Kaoru
Nausicaa
Lisa Hayes
Jesse from pokemon (i think i can forgive this one because it just makes it even goofier)
Ryoko from Tenchi
Pai Ayanokoji (new dub)
Melfina
Strange Dawn (this one sounds like an episode of Absolutely Fabulous)

two: "you call that a scream?" MAle or females, both are guilty of this. The obviously intense or dramatic moment falls short with a nasal yell of "noooooo!"

Offenders:
Entire male cast of Kenshin
strange dawn (we might be able to blame this on on european dubbing. It obvious people are -trying- to talk with american accents)
Daisaku from Giant Robo
Willow Johnson's role as Lilly in the first Fatal Fury

Special note should be given to Mike Donovan of Ryouga fame, who had a very extensive and weird voice acting and directing career before Ranma, including the bizzare Captain N, and T-Rex, and the more straight Forward Conan The Barbarian. His screams and yells are always just. . .funny for some reason and make me laugh.

three: "What language is this again?"
ifn'n yer gonna dub from japanese, and yer gunna keep the names, ya better learn some basic phoenetics! sometimes its just painful to hear them try and say somethings. Granted, some things will never work well. . .like Ryu. . .

Offenders:
Ryo- ronin warriors. . . .(rye-oh?)
Akane- an akane to remember (shee-no-soo-keh?) (Ranma-chan got it right, Sheenoske is how it normally comes out.)
Asuka - spanish dub of eva, (ah SOO ka?) (honorable mention for hearing tokyo trace);p
Inu yasha- when speaking of his brother (Sess sho mahroo?)
MANGA ENTERTAINMENT- for calling themselves MAINGUH

Special note goes to the new Akira dub which went in the completely opposite direction with pronouncing AKIRA so harshly it sounds downright goofy, despite its intent to be more correct.

Um, in response to a question asked ages ago...I've only seen the "new" Akira, and thoroughly enjoyed it! I've never seen the "old version" nor have I watched it subbed.
I honestly think this argument is silly. I make a simple statement, and then people just start "yelling" about their opinion. I know the more diplomatic among us have said it but when in doubt, remember this simple rhyme;
"Different people have different opinions,
Some like apples, and some like onions!"
Watashi wa mangouko de gozaru.

With Akira, I once again was a background voice actor.

I did random crowd voices during the opening riot scenes.

You can hear me say "don't make me get out of this car y' jerk!" in the traffic jam

I also am one of the biker gang and I'm the one checking the wreckage... I get to say "It's not him! It's not Tetsuo!"

The only other line you can actually hear me say is "What's your problem" when Kei pushes past this one guy in the crowd.

All the rest is walla... so mixed with other background voices that I couldn't point it out.

I was thrilled just to be a voice in Akira at all!

The fact I even have ONE LINE that you can hear... well... that's a bonus.

Yes... but it's soooo much better than

Akeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeera!

Kenayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyda!

One name that a lot of people have trouble with is Ryu.

My friend who does a lot of subtitle work for differing anime companies got on my case until I pronounced it right.

(For those who are interested, you say Ryu by saying the word "you" with a quick 'd' sound before it.... d'YOU)

I will never back down in the face of the armies of the stupid.

You just have to keep talking, hoping that you might reach 1 in tens of thousands.
I think Milo explains why I continue to speak up. I hope that maybe one person will understand...just one :-P
