I know we had this discussion befor, dwchang, but allow me the chance to throw in another angle on the original intention of the creator. Don't most animes start off as mangas? Keeping in mind that the mangas are the creators true intentions, why does most animes stray from what is put in the mangas? After reading a few mangas myself and watching(or some times listening to) interveiws with creators, producers and directors, I realised that some times to original part is slowly disappering in the trasfomation to animation.dwchang wrote:Well...as I've said in many a thread, you're free to like whatever you like. I just hate it when people talk about dubs like they're part of or great than the original creator's intended voices or whatever...like saying it's "better." I mean you can like it more, but by definition a dub is...well...dubbing over the original voices...you lose things. Again, you can prefer enough, but I hate hearing people talk about dubs like they know what the creator wanted.
EX. 1) Real Bout High - their was one part that was a major difference in it. :: Spolliers :: In the anime Nagumo created the K-fights, but in the manga It was Shizuma. Plus in the anime Shizuma is a tough street punk that is a good fighter. In the manga is a complete badass, an equivalent to what Nagumo was in the anime. Shizuma has a mono brow in the manga, which was an key part to his charactor. Also removed from the anime.
EX. 2) Berserk - Their is a missing charactor named Puck. A little farry that was " a key member to the hawks" was removed from the anime completely. It was a move that they knew would take some of the fantasy out of the story, but with the creators agreement he was removed. The creator can agree to a lot of things but it does not mean it keeps true to his story. Somethings are an exceptable losses and that loss gained the creator a series, a paycheck and hopefully fans that well buy his manga. WoW it's like someone is paying to advertising your book.
I am starting to see more tant and cruption I the cross over from magna to anime then in the dubbing and subbing.
How can any say what the creators intend. I don't carry what if you whatched EVA subbed or dubbed. No one every told me what was the meaning behinded it, only what it ment to them or what they think it might mean. You can take two people who seen it subbed or dubbed and get two different ideas and you can find a fan of the sub and a fan of the dubbed an get the same story.
