Got a couple questions about Premiere and using AVI Synth for sources.
The Problem:
So far, I've got the video done, it looks nice, sounds nice, but its 628 MB and unshrunk and uncompressed. Everytime I use Premiere to shrink it to a more reasonable size (I saved it as an uncompressed AVI then re-imporeted it to Premiere to shrink it) and encode it with DivX (for some reason I can only choose 5.0.2 to encode with though I have 4.12 and 3.11a installed) Media Player, nor any other DivX specific video programs can read the video.
The Questions:
Should I be using some program other than Premiere to shrink the video down and encode it to DivX?
Microsoft only has Media Player 6.4 available for 95/NT, I have 7.1 (which must die a horrible death). Is there anyplace that has 6.2 for download, and not a link to Microsoft?
And lastly, how can I get Premiere to recognize the other DivX codecs? Should I unistall 5.0.2 and reinstall the 3.11a and 4.12 then reinstall 5? (using XP as an operating system, if that helps any)
Thanks, and I apologize if these are answered elsewhere. I'm at work and can't sift through all the forum posts.

First, <A HREF=http://www.animemusicvideos.org/legacy/ ... tm>REFG</A>
Second, dunno. you might try searching google, or maybe look on http://www.doom9.org
Third, you need an individual version of DivX installed for Premiere to recognize it. Although 5 is technically (sort of) backwards-compatible, it can only play back content frm 3 and 4 - not decode it in a way programs like Premiere want. You don't have to uninstall 5, but you should reinstall 4, then 3.

Yes, you should be using Nandub for divx3 (see ErMaC's guide) or virtualdub for Divx5.Souldrake wrote:Should I be using some program other than Premiere to shrink the video down and encode it to DivX?
There's nothing wrong with media player 6.4 - use that.Souldrake wrote: Microsoft only has Media Player 6.4 available for 95/NT, I have 7.1 (which must die a horrible death). Is there anyplace that has 6.2 for download, and not a link to Microsoft?
Well, you shouldnt be using premiere for divx compression at all as it's not very good at handling it. Use virtualdub or nandub and you will get the results you require.Souldrake wrote:And lastly, how can I get Premiere to recognize the other DivX codecs? even if you installed 7.1 you most likely STILL have the original mplayer2.exe files for 6.4 on your hard drive.
Goto Start|Run type "mplayer2" and see if 6.4 pops up.
You may also have the .inf file left on the hard drive, so you can do a search for mplayer2 and look a .inf file, if it's there, right click and choose install.
