Thanx Klinky!
The newer version I guess was all I need. I was still working off 1.7someodd. According to my sources it was newest, remind me to punch him in the head. Now all of my output files work perfectly! Well, all but Divx5, but small is the price for 4 channels of RAID 1+0 goodness. MMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Raid.

Go to the codec-options and change the the upper right box to "<-- Convert to YUY2" .
True, but for that to happen on every setting ... (?)
I tried that (before) and all I got was snow. Now is all good! I appreciated the heads up though.

Just snow. Very very colorful snow. [...snip]

1.86 is not actually a official DVD2AVI version. I tried all the 1.7x versions and none of them fixed this problem.

There's possibility that DVD2AVI is outputting RGB data to huffyuv which huffYUV would then compress as RGB data. This is fine since it's going to be converted to RGB in Premiere anyways. However if you say convert RGB to YUY2, you're going to get alot of colorspace conversions.

DVD is already in the YUV colorspace, if you go from the DVD YUV ----> RGB ---> YUY2 :O That's not good. This may not be happening, though I suspect it is.

=o

And the funny thing is that this would have happened on a Mac, too.
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.

I'm positive I kept everything in YUV, but that's yet another thing to double-check. I haven’t bothered to do so since my software seems on the up and up. Thanx. You’re getting mad props on my current project. If it weren't for you my film would be lost. Still disturbing that avisynth, even after a software upgrade is acting weird. Never had this much trouble on one little video but.... Oh well.
