JACON Get Together

We(MTT) are hosting a panel at 2pm on Friday. Afterwards I believe we have to pick up Jescaflowne from the airport then head directly over to the House Of Blues for the concert.

So I'm up for whatever you guys want to do, until 2pm.

Its probably easiest to eat on campus. If you want to leave to eat, Friday is probably the day to do it, since there isn't as much going on that day.

If you guys decide you want to eat off campus I'd like to suggest Bubbalou's Barbeque. Its really good. Unless you are a vegetarian or on some sort of diet.

There are big picnic tables there that can accomodate a large group. Its located between the con-hotel and the University, so it should be easy for everyone to find.

Its just a suggestion, I'm up for anything.

I've got some last-minute questions.

Are they selling DVDs there? (stupid question, but I want to know)

Are you people coming for all three days, or just one or two? Also, are you people going to stay for the whole thing each day, or are you going to leave after the AMV stuff?

I'm sure there will be anime DVDs for sale in the dealer's room. If you are referring to AMV DVDs then that depends on each group but your best chance of picking those up are after AMV panels. I myself will be handing out a two CD sample set full of AMVs from the AMV Distribution Center for free if interested (go here for details).

While I don't have every minute planned out for the con (kinda hard without a firm schedule) I can tell you this much. I'm arriving Thursday and will be leaving Sunday and I know many others are doing this. Local con goers (for any con) tend to show up on Thursday or Friday. I always try to do things at cons other than just AMV events. I'm looking forward to EK?s Graphic Arts panel and the Plushie Making panel intreges me. I also like seeing an episode or two from an anime series I haven't seen before. You can't beat anime cons for free previews of anime before you fork out for the DVD (well, maybe you could with a good anime club in your area

). With the hotel being seperate from the con it isn't as easy to just run back your room for food, a break, or money/stuff so I think people will tend to make a full day out of it than just going to certain events.

Just a reminder that all AMV creators and friends attending JACON this weekend are invited to an informal and unofficial AMV get together. We will be meeting at or outside (depending on how much space there is and how much we annoy the con staff is) of the registration area at 11:30 Friday morning (registration itself starts at 10:30). From there we will find some food and hopefully good conversation and times will ensue. I'm sure we'll run into each other during the course of the con but this makes for a good opportunity to meet and greet new and old friends.

I'm not sure how public this is, but...apparently there's also a pretty late night gathering Thursday night...I hope we can get up afterwards....

Uh, actually that's a private gathering that one of the MTT guys put together for his friends...he made reservations and stuff for it...

DAMNIT! I just found out I'll miss the entire day of Saturday because I have to attend my brother's graduation! The majority of events will take place on Saturday! Well, at least I won't miss the AMV stuff...

...but DAMN!
