slayers question?

i have decided that i love Slayers (all of 'em) but i cant figure out something... if hellmaster can kill the all mighty gaav with a snap of his fingers how come lina could kill him so easily? and if any one reads this whats yer favorite pair/group ... i think lina and zel should be together. amelias to happy and bouncy fer zel. and gourrys to (forgive me fer being blunt) dumb ... well unaservent... and i think he would drive lina mad... oh and how come u never get to see xelas or luna? and why does val-gaav san insist on being a freak? <sob> im so confused

Lina isn't as "weak" as you're making her out to be. IIRC she's been alive for hundreds of years and her sister is even more powerful (around Xellos powerful...his opposite I THINK).

She even has an attack that uses "the Lord of Nightmares" (or whatever...the highest demon). With that attack, I'd imagine she could kill just about anyone.

I love Slayers. My roommate had almost all of Slayers on VHS tape.

I think it is an excellent series. Im not sure who I would pick as partners in Slayers. My first thought is of Lina and Zelgadis(sp?)

The first time I heard Lina called Dragon SPOOKER I was crying I was laughing so hard.

In 2000, I made a music video about Lina and Gourry because they are the only actual coupling in Slayers...though people do like to make their own versions. It is actually my favorite of my own music videos.

I suspect you never see Luna because it's more powerful to speculate about how powerful she is based only on Lina's reactions, than anything they could animate.

If you huys really want comprehensive and continued story lines, check out the manga.

Just curious anioh, how much of the 3 series have you actually seen?

Ok Slayers is my all time favorite anime. It's not based on manga Its based on a series of novels which unfortunately have never been commercially translated to english. Luna is very powerful but she quit being the sorceress supreme to keep her part time job as a waitress. Appearantly she is freinds in the novels with xellos's lord beast master xellas. The Reason Lina fears her so much is that on top of torturing Lina when she was little. Lina left home because she was taking naked pics of Luna and selling them and luna found out! Anyway Hellmaster beat gaav so easy because Gaav had been reborn as a human and had gone mad so he wasnt a true monster. Hellmaster was pure and had been sitting by building his power instead of giving it to lesser monsters. In the war of the monsters fall most of the lesser mazuko(No clear english translation the best one isnt monster but Demon people) were killed. Instead of making several monsters Xelas put her power in one monster general Xellos which is why he survived. the lord of nightmares is chaos and nothingness from which all lives on all the world comes from. Hellmaster could only call upon his power and the power of his lord Shabrinigdu he could not call upon the power of the lord of lords which is what the Giga slave is. I hope this clears some stuff up. I'm sorry for such a long post but I love slayers.

well i have seen the eps 1-67 of the oringale most of slayers next ( i didnt see all the rezo ones) and i have seen most of try as well (joy to the all holy cheese of slayers) but how come phibby cant call on the l-sama sense in a way hes her mazuko to... and as fer gourry + lina dont u think he would drive her mad from constantly calling her names and asking questions?

Neither the Gods or the monsters can call on the lord of chaos only the humans. Phibrizzo needed lina to call the giga slave and he didnt understand what it was. Phibby is nothing to the lord of chaos. He like most of the gods and monsters didnt understand anything about it. I like Gourry He asks the right questions at the right times. I love lina she represents everything my ideal redhead would be. Hehe I have my first slayers tape signed by Lisa ortiz.

Umm, If I remember correctly, Lina didnt exactly beat Hellmaster very easily, everyone almost pretty much died, and from the impression I got, she actually did die, and it was The Lord of Nightmares who basically appeared in her form and killed Hellmaster, and then brought Lina back to life after Goury begged her/him/whatever too.

This is true lina became the avatar for the lord of nightmares by casting the Giga slave.

yes but the lord of nightmares would never have come down into lina if she didnt have enough power to cast the spell. lina had to have been holding out before she cast it 'cause she cant cast even a ragna blade fer more then a couple seconds .... and isnt the giga slave ten times as hard to cast. ..... oh and whats an avatar ?
