AMV TV Station
I was watching some of the video streams from shoutcast using nullsofts new codec and was thinking about making an AMV TV station. The codec is nativly supported by Winamp 2.91 and 3.x. And can be broadcast using existing shoutcast software.

Re: Shoutcast
lol on the one hand some videos on local are pretty darned terrible lol... but considering the local server allready has rules on in-appropriate content the ways may justify the means... just wish there was some other filter available. BUT sometimes you just have to suffer through the bubble-gum videos on VH1 to get to the good stuff (who over 13-15 watches MTV any more?? Now it's either BET or VH1... sometimes even CMT lol if you feel like falling asleep... or maybe I'm just getting old).14Rivers wrote:Big BUMP
I was just watching a shoutcast this evening and I was wondering about this idea, was there any further elaboration about possiblyh shoutcasting the Local server?

Well a while ago there was a music station on shoutcast that had an online list of the playlist and you could pick which songs you wanted to listen to from a list of all of the avaliable songs on the website. (To keep the queue flowing only 10 were picked at a time.) The big problems you'd need to overcome to do it though would be finding enough bandwidth so they video's don't look crappy and you'd also have to re-encode all of the video's so they were in a format compatable with streaming. A possible solution to the bandwidth problem would be to broadcast it over peercast (www.peercast.org) which uses a system of relays to allow the video to be spread in a P2P kind of way where instead of everyone drawing from one server everyone is drawing bandwidth from all the other people watching the file. The only problem with that is it would still be limited to the upload bandwidth/cap of whoever was first sending the video's out to all the other people listening. I'd be willing to help if anyone want's to do this.

agreed, mtv is going downhill, perhaps Anime Music TeleVision would be a welcome change.
P.S. getting old is only for old people, and the secret to staying young is to cast off all sense of maturity.

First they came for Evanecese, and I did not speak out because I was not a fan. Then they came for Creed, and I did not speak out because I was not a fan. Then they came for the Seether, and I did not speak out because I was not a fan. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me.

feel free to use mine, though not my first one, I am not particularly proud of that... You'll proly want my latest one, and the one I will have comming out soon
is there a way for one station to pull from multiple servers? so if the load on one gets bad it can shuft traffic to another one? I have a server that not doing much, and I'd be willing to help jumpstart the project if that where possible...
