I agree with Sarah The Boring, all generalizations are bad. Most animes are hit or miss, its just like tv shows here, they are trying to either get a great hit or fill up space left.

Heu i got one!
hey one thing that i hate about anime is the girls. man i love how there are almost not ugly chicks and they are all so hot. but the thing is that they don't have any brains. in newer anime this is becomeing more of a trend. but as well we are seeing chicks with more brains and more normal personalities. for example. Belldandy yah she is hot as hell but really what kind of chick is going to wait for a yr. for her bf to kiss her? and really both of there personalities have littl or no depth to them at all. or else thay have no depth but are incredably violent. like lets say Naru from love hina. man she has got some serious problems. and even in the movies she says that she loves him and then in the next movie she is back to two timing and beating Keitaro up. whats up with that? That has become such a trend that when i watched Dual! for the first time i expected Sanada to punch Kazuki every time he fawns over another girl but hey she seems to be one of the more normal chicks in anime. not a "nut bar" as Akito puts it or a tottal bitch with no peronality. but a nice girl that hehe gets mad but can deal with life. Another would be Urumi Kanzaki, Finally a hot intellegent chick. I must say that i think this one is my favorite. man hot with two differnt colored eyes. a partial nerd and badass. any chick who alls in the Yakuza to kidnap her enimies is a friend of mine. ohhhh. well enough of me fawning over her. A couple of examples of these new generation wemon would be Miazawa from His and Hers (kare Kano), the three sisters from Neo Ranga, and Ruri from Nedesico ( although she is the only one in that show).

hey hey one thing i hate about old anime is Dragon ball Z the worst anime on the face of the earth. i think pokemon has better action and story. At lest they don't take five ep. to throw a punch and stuff. and they repeat the story over and over again. how many times is frezza gonna comeback? I hate it. although i will admit that the chinese ver of Dragon ball gt is cool. because there is blood Fast action and well i guess i don't know to well about the story cause they are kinda expensive to order. but they what ever. i hate it and i hate how people consider that a great anime. but thats I so reply woith all the hate mail u want! hehe ^^

I think that the Japanese studios are trying to advance anime as a solid medium on a par with movies and TV - when it has already gone as high as it will go, in terms of mass appeal. In avoiding cliche, they have ironically made their newer offerings the same as everyone else's.
hmmm ... looks like your trying to describe Eva ... i wouldn't know if Eva got that ball rolling or not but whatever ... just thought i'd point that out ... even though about 90% of teh ppl who read that post probalby made that connection by the 4th point... the 5th one was a dead give away.

umm i think FLCL was 1999, in the DVD booklets they talk about the y2k appocalypse scare.
