hey hey
hehe ya that was vilolent for eva. but the part im talking aboput is the second half. man that was sweet. it really started when rei joins with Lilith. man and then it gets even better when shinji strangles auska and the best anime song ever comes on. Komm suesser tod. and listening to the words as humanity loses their at field and becomes one ah man thats so sexy and ahhhh. i love eva. and then when shinji has to decide wether he wants a world with no pain or one with individuals and friends and pain. and the real footage was great. some people didn't like that but man i think it added. to the feel of the movie. how it showed emptiness and them people again. and the end was the best. were reis parts were falling to earth. man that imagry was spectacular. but the best part was when auska is dead on the beach by shinji and he starts to strangle her and she reaches up to caress his cheek and he cries. ahe looks down at him and wispers "how disgusting" ah man! its so great! there is so many metaphors in there and great messages ah man.

Staring at the night sky above the cliffs,
The stars like tears above the flames.
As the fires fall and burn the grass,
I stare at my home, watching, helpless.
A song of sorrow flows through the air,
Between the sounds of hail and thunder.
Staring at the ground beneath my feet,
The valleys like sullen creases on a tired face.
Between the sadness my house burns,
Like a friend watching from far off.
The sky and the ground swallow up
All history and time not able to look back.
Staring at the night sky above the cliffs,
The stars like tears above the flames.

oh well
oh well hehe what u like is what u like. man im a scientist and phsycology is very cool. its part of understanding the world for whst it is. if u like that kind of stuff then u would like that series. also im the type that reads shakespeare and salinger. i guess i cannot but love that movie. its a true peice of art. phsyco babble would be gundam wing and X. stuff aleady said once about life and people and repeated over and over again. on the risk of being insulting i bet u didn't even get what evangelion was all about, the AT field or anything. Evangelion is pure poetry and a pice of art. they used the 26 eps well with a slow change and comparison in the feel so that it was almost a complete genre change. besides if u think the movie has alot of metaphores u must have not seen the series. what do u think the train is? or maybe the biggest one of all the AT. field. Arguably even the angels could be considered metaphores. so hey what were u saying about the movie? nowadays animeis trash compared to this mastepiece. They spout the same stuff over and over. that is what gave pshyological themes a bad name. As long as it sounds complicated or messd up it must be cool right? i say watch it again but this time mayhap figure out wht iis bout unless u just dislike intelligent anime that challenges the way u look at people and life.

Re: no
Original Gundam came out in 1979...hence the title Mobile Suit Gundam 079.Propyro wrote:i thought gundam started in the 70's? and the ball i was talking about was the whole questioning every thing ... from what i've heard gundam is supposivly a generic giant robot anime ... i almost never refer to the evas as robots ... for the simple reason that their not ... i'd go into detail but thats spoils everything ... well i gues you can call them cyborgs if anything.deus751 wrote:actuall what got the ball rolling on the robot stuff was gundam. they started that kind of anime back in the 80's way before eva.
Regardless of how "generic" it is...they were still the first...and are the ones people copy...not the other way around. Given, their last few iterations have been pretty bad..although i hear the newest, seed, is good.

Ummm... I thought that was because the story took place in UC 0079. (like Gundam 0080 : War in the Pocket took place towards the end of hte war in UC 0080, and Gundam 0083 : Stardust Memory several years later as well...)
Though admittedly, that may have been because of when it came out- but didn't Gundam first appear in books before it was animated? I can't remember which came first...

Well according to Animenfo, Mobile Suit Gundam came out in 1979. Now I do know that it takes place in the Universal Century 070, but at the same time, I am fairly sure they chose the 79 since that was the year.Ashyukun wrote:Ummm... Idont see any poetry in it and I dont see how you can call a stupid ending intelligent. At fields and crap like that are part of most sci fi anime. Why is gundam unintelligent it has Newtypes? I myself don't believe in any kind of psychic energy so if a series focuses on it it bores me. Too many metaphores bores me also. to review
Starblazers=Classic
Eva=not that old and not at all a classic unless you want something to pick on.
