OKAY, i saw the hack series, which was pretty good for the most part, beautiful animation, but i couldn't follow the whole damn series!! i have no Frickin idea whats going on, especially w/ the little floatie girl and the whole key of the twilight thing..........I'M SO FUCKING CONFUSED!!!!!HELP!!!!

*SPOILERS*

The girl is the messed up "I love you" guy's daughter, if the main character(I watched it in Japanese so I don't know the guys name in english.. I think it was "Kite" or something like that) has depressing, sad, angry, etc thoughts the girl "Aura" I believe, will be "evil" if he thinks good or happy thoughts, she will be normal and good.
The mysterious voice lady-person doesn't want the girl to be born either way, but I can't remember why.
The girl is the supposed "Key of the twilight" which in reality is nothing cus the messed up dude made the riddle so that people would find his girl and have her be born as she should be. *takes deep breath*
The main character couldn't log out cus the lady-person knocked him/her out while s/he was online making the visor to fall off and his/her consiousness to stay inside the game while tampering with his/her memories making him/her thinking s/he was a guy when in reality s/he is a girl which we find out in the last episode.
*gasp*
The start of the "key of the twilight" conspiracy was a post on the BBS or chat board(like this one) saying a riddle but it was deleted quickly and appartently no one could see the whole post so there was confusion over it and it was forgotten until the thing with Kite happened. Everyone wondered if the Kite knew about the key and whether he himself was the key since he couldn't log out and had no memory at first.
*gasp pant*
The cat PC(personal character) was someone working with the lady-person but wanted the best for Kite which is why s/he sacrificed him/herself for Kite. This is shown by how when Kite is a zombie s/he still thinks, worries, and visits him. Although, it is my belief that the cat might be a computer program or virus or something.

I think it's Tsukasa not Kite (isn't Kite the legendary character in .hack/dusk?)

I love this series I can't wait for them to release it over here

the fact that you keep saying s/he clouds the issue. Tsukasa is a male character in 'the world'.
Its been awhile but I will try to resurface my memories of a series I did very much like.
Aura is in a coma, she is a terminal ill child of the creater of the world who went mad. I haven't read the novels that preceed the series so I don't know the details about just what is 'the world' But I know as much to say it isn't just plug and play. [/b]

Tsukasa is the main character of the .hack//SIGN series.
Kite is the main character of the four .hack PS2 games.
Shugo is the main character (a chibi version of Kite) of the .hack//dusk series.

The "evil lady" is Morgana, a computer virus placed into The World by (as far as I can tell) rivals of Harald the "I love you" guy, while Aura is his unborn daughter - whether she is his RL daughter or not is up in the air, but I think it's been confirmed that Harald "imported" his consciousness into The World before he was trapped (and finally destroyed) by Morgana. As far as I can make out, Aura is supposed to be the equivalent of a god in The World, with the ability to control anything at whim. For that reason, if she's born, she will pose a threat to Morgana and thus Morgana hatches this complex scheme involving Tsukasa to keep her at bay.

Thus, .hack//SIGN was about awakening Aura and setting in motion the events that will save The World, while as far as I can tell, the four games are about saving Aura from Morgana's minions to give her time for her abilities to develop. .hack//dusk is something else altogether. ^_^

damnit.. you beat me to it and is Morgana the same as Helba?

I haven't gone into too much detail as the storyline goes and have only managed to catch a few episodes.

No, I don't think Helba and Morgana are the same. Helba is, as I think you know since you've played the games, the hacker that pops up every so often to help Kite in her own weird way (and she's mentioned a few times in SIGN, though I can't remember if she actually is seen in the show).

Morgana is just the manifestation of the virus that's taking over The World. I don't think we've seen what "she" looks like just yet - we've only heard her voice and seen her minions, the 8 Phases. (Skeith, if I recall, is one of the Phases, as was Maha, the cat from SIGN)

and not central desert... I'm actually working on a gold mine a couple hours out of Leinster (which you might know being as it is in WA but if you don't it's similar to Kalgoorlie)

Yeah she appears in the .hack//sign show but only a couple of times
