Uhm...yeah to be at all pre-screened, you have to have that thing signed. Basically it was saying that you gave them permission to show anything period. My guess is they won't show yours at the pre-screening. Especially since all of us have gotten e-mails that say they received the form and our video was accepted.

Sorry man.

Funny considering ACen does this EVERY year with over 100 entries. IIRC we were up from 7 p.m. - 4 a.m. narrowing down entries. I agree that things can go wrong at the last minute. Given, this is not Quu's fault...he just does tech and lets the coordinator decide how they wanna do it...unfortunately, ACen does it this way even though a number of us have suggested otherwise...:(

Oh well.

About the submission form....if you submitted to Otaku Video, you should check your email. I am pretty sure they will include your video in the screenings (due to the insructions on the Otaku site for Otakon forms being a bit outdated) but they won't wait forever.

If you got the actual video in on time, filled out the Otaku Video information so they know it's there, send in the submission form immediately. At worst, if it was in on time but they didn't notice it, they may still accept it...who knows. Peace of mind is only 37 cents...it's worth it :)

I think that's why Matt wanted to have screenings spread out around the area - there should be some people who saw the tapes today in New York and there will be others seeing some of the tapes in King of Prussia, so the numbers should go up a bit. For the record, the number of people who voted on my video last year was 38, so keep that in consideration.

I think that's nuts too - watch all the videos, then sleep for four hours and wake up to watch them again in the finals...crazy. There have to be people in the Chicago area willing to prescreen in advance. Of course, that means opening it up to a greater proportion of non-creators.

The thought had crossed my mind. But even my sadistic tendancies know their limits when filled with the prospect of subjecting audiences to the 3 hours of Linkinball Z vids that would be voted for with such stuffed ballots.

Yeah, I sent out two copies of the thing...though, the second was sent out right after I heard from Matt that he already had my CD and form, so now I'm just flooding him with more mail :/

Hopefully.....there isn't any problems going on...a certain staff member's journal seems to say something bad is going on. I hope it's not due to the overwhelming number of entires off the 'net cause then I contributed to the problem :(

I don't really have a place to say it, being in the actual contest and all, but if there is something that we can do to help I certainly would lend a helping hand. Too bad I live in clear out in Ohio....

You guys seem to have done a great job in the past with compiling the contests and screenings, so I think I can speak on behalf of many when I say great job! Hopefully...whatever the problem was gets fixed soon...

If you're about what I think you are...don't worry about it. As for helping, yeah I'd like to too, but I know the staffers and in particular the tech person and they like doing it themselves...

Either way, don't worry so much :-D

...I think I figured it out. Sorry for calling attention....

Let's turn my little post into a cheer for the Otakon AMV staff then!

YAAAY STAFF! You guys do great work! 180+ freaking videos! That lends new meaning to my banner about amv marathons...

Dang. It sounds like prescreenings down South were a bit rowdy. Anyone go to the NYC one? I should have been there, but once again my AMV-related plans were thwarted by other aspects of my life. Hopefully a decent judging job overall was done at the pre-screenings in spite of the apparent problems....
