Too many exlamation marks and capital letters.
But if you're up to it, why don't you elaborate on your 'suggestion?' Is it just the combination of LP and DBZ, or the songs with *any* anime? The general consensus here is that older LP songs are over-done because they've been used in too many dbz vids - to the point where you get slack for using them, no matter what the anime or concept behind the vid. I've used 'Crawling' (I *think* it was that one... ) in a YYH amv and got grief because of the song, even though there had never been an LP&YYH combination done before - just the song alone was enough to annoy people. So is that the stance you're taking as well? If you have an opinion and it's *not* a demand (calm down if it's not, you sound like it is when you yell) then explain a little. I adore conversational debates, it's just when it comes down to screaming and ranting it doesn't make any sense and there's no reason for it to continue.

Here is my debate... Ok i do not dislike Linkin Park but like i said in the other posts Linkin Park has different songs that go well with (different) anime. In the End is old and is too overused. So is DBZ. Mabey if users (including new users) Knew that we would eventually have new and better anime appearing in the AMVs that we view... This is not the end of the Debate i just have to go for now
I really dont care if you steal this! Just as long as you dont let me find out.

"So shut up!!" Wow, I'm sorry. I didn't know I was speaking to an eight-year-old. I'll back off.
And yes, you were making demands. "Stop doing this, stop doing that. Blah blah blah." But you're not responding to any criticism with anything resembling maturity, so I'm not going to bother explaining the difference to you.

Sure, but how different do you want the music?
An AMV using music such as Psychic TV or platEAU won't generate as much interest as one using a popular mainstream band like Linkin Park. Even if you don't use a well-know source like DBZ for the video.
Sure, I'd like to see an AMV for cEvin Key's "Frozen Sky", even if it did use DBZ, but it won't happen because when a person puts real effort into a video they want to have an end result more than 3 people will download and watch.

Heh, just to be difficult that's where the opinion exchange comes in. I know, that'll only help for a while, but no matter how little-known a song is, you can go to the op exchange and get people to watch it - they'll watch nearly anything so long as they get an op in return. And if it's *good* then that will gain attention and eventually you'll get the recognition you want. Then again, you can make a vid using an unheard-of song and not care if anyone sees the work you put into it, as long as *you* like it. If I like a song, I'm going to use it, whether others like it (or it's over-done) or not.ithaqua wrote:Sure, but how different do you want the music?

But I agree about the well-known angle, completely. Get a mainstream song and you get more hits, a mainstream anime and you get more hits, combine the two and you have a lot more hits than a creative never-used-before-song will ever gather, which is very good for someone just wanting attention, or wanting their amv viewed for constructive criticism.

Good point. At that point you have to decide why you're making AMVs, for attention or for your own expression (or whatever).Arigatomyna wrote: But I agree about the well-known angle, completely. Although I wouldn't say that using a mainstream song/anime is more likely to get you constructive criticism. If anything, the people who are going to look at your video with a critical eye are going to want to see something new. Though you will probably get more opinions overall, I don't know if they'll be useful ones. Not all opinions are all that useful, I'm sorry to say. (And I'm not blaming anyone; I write pretty useless opinions myself.)

Oh, I definitely agree about the opinions. I guess that's the difference - I'll give better opinions on new amvs if I know the song or anime, or have seen the combination before than I could give for a new and unusual song or amv idea. I'm big on the 'constructive' side when it comes to reviewing vids.
And there's the danger in using 'familiar' combinations - the best people to get advice from are the ones, like you said, who want something new - but wanting new doesn't necessarily mean they'll go out of their way to find it, just that they'll appreciate it more (assuming they like the song). I'm torn between suppressing the 'over-done' genres and encouraging them for criticism's sake and accesibility. And it's hard since I like the overdone songs, as well as the animes used for them (there are more than just the LP-DBZ combinations that get used a lot).
I don't know what to encourage or promote besides 'free-choice' in amv making. I'm one of the 'I do it because I like it and my friends like it and I upload it so I can share with them and anyone else who happens to like it as well is free to get it' type people.
