The Love or Winning AMVs?
Do you guys make AMVs just for the love, or just winning the AMV contest?
For me..... I'm going to admit this, I do this just to win something......

When I made my first AMV, I really only did it to show the person who got me into all of this that I achieved something like she did. Then after I found out about this website and contests and stuff, my goal was to win an award or something. Recently I just found out how much fun it is to make AMVs. If I win contests, I win. If I lose contests, I still had a lot of fun making AMVs. It took me two and a half years to find out how much fun there is in making AMVs, but I'm glad that I still make them.

I always found contests a little over-rated. I just don't find them worth the effort. Last year I really wanted recognition for my work, but this year I think I have a very different attitude. I like watching videos, and if I make them myself I can watch a video that is put to music and anime that I like, with my own preference of effects, concepts, and moods. So now I make videos because I just like getting ideas, because it gives me something to do in my spare time, and because I like watching them after they're done.
I put them on the web just in case someone else will like watching them too.

If I ever expected to win a contest... me... contest... HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Sorry, I just find the thought of ME winning a CONTEST very AMUSING.

Winning a contest is fun and all, but I do it just for the love of it mainly
Sometimes contests inspire me to make videos though. I may have never made Doujin Addiction if not for Hitori Studio's fanservice contest
When all is said and done though... the contest is not what I remember... the AMV is.

Seeing as I've entered all of 1 contest in the year and five-ish months that I've been making AMVs, I think it's a safe assumption that I do it because I like it.
Also, I tend to work best off of ideas that pop up in m,y mind that feel fun and/or important to me. I hope I never make a video with the thought in mind, "I'll definitely win a contest if I do THIS!!".
Course... I am working on a video that, to me, feels like it has potential to be very powerful, and I harbor delusions that people will watch it, if I finish it, and be moved by it.
Then I wake up.

I make amvs so I can win all the contests and be recognized as the mightiest creator ever and will destroy anyone who opposes me! Then I will have all the money, power, and booze! Then people will say, the great Castor Troy made this! and this! and maybe that! Then I will have a cigarette brand named after me where I use chicks in bunny ears as the mascot over that silly camel! Then I will create AMV TV where they play DBZ/LP videos ALL DAY LONG and nobody can change the channel or walk away from the tv because I will install cattle prods in the tvs that have a magentic force which pulls the viewers in making it impossible for them to escape. Then people will SHOWER me with riches and wine! Then in the distant future when I pass away, my brain will be put into an industructable robot body so I can continue my reign of terror until the world ends. Then I will fly to other planets and galaxies and rule over those!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

But in all seriousness, I send to cons so people can see my stuff on the big screen. The pleasure of seeing your work on the big screen is enough for me.
