Anyone worried what RIAA's latest action will do to AMV's?

Post by Anlushac11 » Wed Jun 25, 2003 5:17 pm

8)

RIAA has now promised to start tracking down and prosecuting and suing illegal song swappers. RIAA's recommendation basically is to remove any swap software from your computer.

Is there any reason to assume they would ignore a-m-v.org?

We all love the AMV's but arent they still being bistributed illegally since RIAA is not recieving compensation?

Question will they overlook it as a work of art or will they care? Corporations are not known for compassion and understanding.

I think this is a good time to send a friendly FUCK OFF message to the RIAA.

I certainly hope this isn't going to affect the org. In any case, I'm hardly worried since it'll take a bit more than RIAA can stomach to actually stop people from making AMV's...

I'm not worried about the RIAA over this issue more or less than I was worried when they shut down Napster. Please. Good luck to them.

I think this is a good topic, but at the same time:

Mods: Don't you think this should belong in "General AMV?" I think a number of people who don't read this forum would probably like to comment, including Phade.

From my point of view, this is an age old problem that will NEVER go away. Unless they think they can out smart consumers, this will always be around. They think by saying "We are gonna sue all of you" that people will all get rid of their file swappers, saving them face. To that I say "BAH!" Even if they shut down every official swappers, new and different ones will emerge.

RIAA is retarded. They're just whining, thinking they have power. They should just wake up, smell the coffee, and realize that technology has changed. Maybe if they would stop puling they'd be able to figure out a way to adapt instead of making idle threats that they will never be able to carry out.

Hmmm...

Choice 1: Continue putting out music that doesnt sell... Rake in decent profit but ignore the artists that earned you this profit.

Choice 2: Sue 5 million people that share your songs, rake in billions, go retire on a small island in the middle of the pacific

Choice 2 has a flaw. It doesn't take into account that someone would probably kill them if they tried it. Someone was willing to kill John Lennon after all  .
