You don't have to care what I enjoy watching dude. That's beside the point. But when amvs are frowned on, don't you think that's a little upsetting? Don't you think the amv should be something praised? Not dissed?
Just because your buds don't praise it doesnt mean newb vids can't have fans. For all you know, the videos you hate so much have receieved emails praising their work from people who enjoy DBZ and LP. Who are you to take that away from someone just because you or your buddies have a snobbish attitude about AMV's. Man, I hate that kind of outlook, videos are made because people enjoy making them...not to please Omnistrata.

If people pass over this site because of the dbz/lp's then that's just that fewer people to start broadcasting the place. And if people are so quick to jump to the conclusion that dbz/lp vids are all amvs are, then their opinions don't matter much - obviously they haven't taken the time to get their facts straight, so chances are they aren't very smart. I couldn't care less if stupid people thought what I did wasn't 'cool.' If people want to make stereotypes, then they aren't bright. Why would you care what stupid people think of your work? There are great videos here. Anyone with sense can see that - and it's *their* opinions that matter.

As for dbz/lp vids, I watch them every chance I can get, I review them and give customary warnings about the reception they can expect from people like you. I point out the common mistakes made in those 'first' amvs and explain about themes that have been used in many dbz vids. Familiarity helps the new creators, and it helps the people trying to give pointers. Of course, that's only for the ones who care. Whether we watch dbz vids (or just complain about them), they get more hits than a large number of the 'great' vids. So obviously someone is watching them, and enjoying them enough to go out and download more dbz, *especially* the LP-dbz vids. Sure, the editors complain about the lack of originality and how these lazy bad video makers are ruining their good name. But the sad fact is, people are watching them, enjoying them, and making their own because they like it.

As for dbz vids and lowering originality - maybe they are, but if you start cutting out types of video you illiminate the very *possibility* of originality. You say 'no more dbz-lp combinations' and people move on, then it's 'no more of that, there are enough of those now' and it continues. My point about originality is when you set limits you *control* the arena of expansion. If you determine genres of videos that cannot be made it is censorship. And as far as I know, the only censorship on this site is to cut out the use of downloaded material, graphic violence, and sexual nudity. If there's a rule against anime-song combinations, I've missed it. If there's a rule saying you have to meet a certain person's standard of originality, I've missed it.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should - but if you want to, and you're allowed to, why shouldn't you? I hate to get emails from people afraid to upload their videos because editors on the forums are cursing and griping about certain combinations. If that isn't limiting a person's creativity, I don't know what is.

PS: I like the idea of your other thread, so long as it's just warning about how their ideas may be received, rather than forbidding them from acting on their preferences in relation to those ideas.

Thanks Arigatou...

Ya know? Arguing is pointless, I figured Linkin' Bark Z is too damn specific and that there are OTHER shitty vids out there.

If we like had a GROUP of people "like an online panel" of helpful amv editors who wouldn't mind being contacted for some pointers, DUDE!!

I left a suggestion that we open like a "quick tips" section on editing technique.

If you DO NOT have time to write essay sized opinions, you can have people give some vids, have them examined by editors, and just leave like a quick statement like "that part at 2:35 in the vid could use this" or etc. etc.

I don't need to hear "I don't have time for this!!" bullshit. If you edit amvs, you HAVE TIME I'M CERTAIN!!!
