Matantei Loki RAGNAROK, otherwise known as Mythical Detective Loki - 'tis a strange tale of Nordic gods wandering about modern day Tokyo fighting amongst themselves and evil objects from Noric mythology that enjoy possessing everything from suits of armour to coffee houses. The main character is Loki, god of mischief, who's banished to Earth by Odin and forced to take the form of a ten year old child... who then proceeds to set up a detective agency , and there's also Daidouji Mayura, the obligatory Japanese middle school girl required by law in all anime of this genre, whose interest in mysterious happenings leads her to Loki's agency.kthulhu wrote:What series is that?
No one explains why they (Nordic gods) seem to like Tokyo so much - it just happens. It's a somewhat whimsical series, heavy on the silly comedy (as should be apparent from that set of screencaps) - though it's not apparent from the first episode, which plays out more like some sort of horror show. Everything goes strange from there - the scene above is from episode 11, where the god Freyr, on Earth to search for his sister Freya and who for some reason finds himself smitten with Mayura (the pink-haired girl in the first screencap), enlists the help of the god Heimdall (in the TV) to scare Mayura's student council president (girl with glasses kicking the TV) into allowing Mayura's unpopular "mystery club" at school to continue functioning.

I can't believe Loki went silly... I only saw the first episode, and late at night with jumpy females around. OK, so I was a little jumpy too. It was pretty scary stuff, actually, with that doll and what have you.

Not too certain how many episodes in the series just yet... it's relatively new, so only 11 eps are out so far. More than likely it'll be the standard one season series (24-26 eps).
It has gone silly, but it's not all bad - it's a fun light-hearted distraction from the heavy stuff out there, if you like that sort of thing. But the first episode was reeeally freaky, so it was really odd when I watched the second ep only to find that everything had gone seriously chibi.
