Anime != cartoon
Anime = Movie and/or series
Movies are edited for TV, so what's the big deal about anime being edited for TV. Sure you can say it is butchered by the editing, but you can say that about any "R" rated movie played on any of your standard cable channels. I think "The Abyss" was edited worse than any anime shown on CN to date, and it was still a good movie.

Yeah, but the thing is it's called "Adult Swim" and they pride themselves on making it sound like it's not for kids and yet they edit it. Also, I don't mind editing when it doesn't effect anything in the plot or characters. With Kenshin, that is not the case. Therefore, I am angry.jonmartensen wrote:Anime != cartoon

Funny you say that since I've mailed them quite a few times over this and given them suggestions. So therefore, I have tried to do things. It's a hopeless cause though and I know it .jonmartensen wrote:Have fun criticizing things and not doing anything to change them.

I think many people have tried to do things to help. I convinced a few friends of mine that are also mad about the Kenshin situation to send mail too. I actually got a response. It said that they edit it for the well being on little children. That almost made me send hate mail back but I resisted. So basically, there is nothing me can do to help the cost. All we can do is complain.dwchang wrote:Funny you say that since I've mailed them quite a few times over this and given them suggestions. So therefore, I have tried to do things. The violent swordfights! The obscure Japanese cultural/historical references! Will somebody please think of the children!?!?!?!
I'd be perfectly fine with dubs if they just edited out violence... but like, yea, as if they'll stop at that.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

now thats just stupid and a waste of time/money ...UncleMilo wrote:I should also point out that Cartoon Network isn't always the place where the editing happens. I remember having to be called in to re-record one of my lines for the "TV Release" version of the show. I had to replace the phrase "pissed off" to "ticked off".
Well i do agree, they are responsible for putting out lot of anime in north america ... but i really don't care too much about them, even though i hate their editing jobs, i don't get Cartoon Network ... I have teletoon ... which never airs anime. And i usualy watch anime on DVD's, in japanese as well ... though i usualy have to wait till i have the house to myself to do that ... my parents and sister bother me and bitch way too much for me to watch at any other times.UncleMilo wrote: Now... with that said... I think Cartoon Network should be supported for putting anime on TV. While I buy the DVDs of anime, because I prefer my anime in Japanese to begin with, I think it is important that we do all we can to help support the concept of "animation is not just for kids".
TV ... you mean you can do more then jsut watch movies on it ?!? ...UncleMilo wrote: I seldom watch anime on Cartoon Network, but I'll still support it because I know some people have no way of getting anime other than watching the shows on TV.

I like the idea of a Cartoon Network X or something like that. A seperate chanel from CN which caries nothing but unedited anime and more adult cartoons. I think a CNX would be cool, even as a premium chanel (have to pay extra). I'd get it.
That out of the way, I will start at the begining of my anime life. CN got me into anime. The first show I ever saw was Gundam:08th MS Team. CN is great for getting me involved with anime. It has my praise.
Now lets jump to today. I'm part of an anime society and hang out with them every week to watch anime. I never watch CN anymore. I can't stand it. Everything is so freeking edited it's pure crap.
After saying this, where do I stand? I don't know. But I still like the idea of a CNX.
Anime I never want to see on CN:
Hyper Police - I love this show. It's hilarious. I would murder any who dare mar it's surface.
Z.O.E. Idolo - See above reason.
Patlabor - I've never seen it, but I want to--in it's origonal form.
All others listed in previous posts - There are too many to list and I don't want to look them up and put them here. Besides you read them already. I've seen most of them and I don't want one of them to fall into CN's grimy little fingers.
