RiceBurner . . . bet you'd never thought your question could become so tangled-up in litigations - Eeeh! ??
According to the FCC for Radio and Television ( which is in violation all around the world ) . . . 1) A Log must be kept up-to-date of every song and commercail shown and/or heard which includes, but is not limited to, the time played and the number of people ESTIMATED to have seen and/or heard your braudcast . . .
technically, there is no way to estimate how many have seen these AMV's, until someone finds a way to LOG who has seen what; I don't think that making an AMV is doing any harm to anyone ^^

wile we are on the subject. dose anyone els think that if the org grows enough, and what with all this new org hosting we got, that maybe, just maybe our dear Phade will come under fire from people like the RIAA looking to cut into the doughnuts "Profits"
the way i see it tho, and i knwo this has been said already, but the idea here is fun, not money. what i see is just like a the irish pub up the street here. This guy, cant remember his name, but in the music world he is a nobody, but every friday and saterday night he is up their, playing music from long ago and today, by request, and making money off tipse. now im almost sure he didnt ask the artest if he could publicy play this music, and change it non the less, he always plays it difrently then the orignal.
also, lets say the RIAA does crack down on the orgs hosting bit, says soemthing like we have to pay a dividen to put up music for DL even if it is in an AMV, would you still donate?

honestly, id ask where is the risk exsactly? they gana sue me personaly for showing my love of both anime and music and shairing the love, and at a cost to my self no less? i can see it now, all it would take is just one org member to get sued, the comunity here would go into an outrage, the riaa or who ever it was would get mroe burned then prased. anyone dumb enough to attack the AMV comunity like that is just asking for it, your basicly telling almost a half a million people they cant do what they love cuz the top brass will only make 90 million and not 100, where as the AMVer already lost money on making the AMV. looking from a CEO of riaa, i see no realy danger int eh AMV comunity and no profitable gain in taking any action in stoping what we do.RiceBurner wrote:so, lemme get a vote. the next 5 people tell me: should take the risk of posting my AMV's or not?
in teh eyes of the riaa, dollor signs last longer then morals, their quest to stop music priatcy will stop when the money runs out, and sueing people lika AMVer is just a loss of money

When the hell did that happen?
