I'm good with potatoes.

In general, my menu includes three main food groups: Potatoes, Pasta, Everythingelse

But potatoes - can do a lot of things with them :) Cooking and eating them I find enjoyable.

Oh, definitely.

Curries, various meat, pasta, and seafood dishes, stir fry, casseroles...

I'm not really into baking much, except some meat dishes and vegetables like squash & yams.

Too easy to buy cookies, muffins, etc. in the market.

Specialties:
Honey-Miso glazed baked halibut
Dry-rub & Worcestershire drizzled BBQ Tri-tip

My Hands Are The Assailant's Hands.

I'm only 14 years old, and practically an expert at "experimental food"...

I shred salas extremely finely - rather, pulverize, with office document shredders of pasta cuters.
Cheese can be fed through rotary cutting tools and then molded to cavities and/or mixed with other materials.
Unflavored gelatin is your friend. When in doubt, gel.
Want to have foaming effects where yeast won't work? Try SoftICE Dry Ice.
To mold materials, cardboard and pieces of wire work great. Plastic bags are also good.

Cooking meats:
Word
PDF

My personal invention:
Coffee grinds in everything.
Even omelets and steaks are not off limits!

I am not wierd.

I've been told my pasta is pretty good - alfredo, bolognese and two varieties of lasagne, and I'm more or less familiar with most breakfast foods. I've also been fairly successful with Chinese-style fried rice and vermicelli, yakiudon, onigiri, katsudon and tenpura soba... though my attempt at a Japanese rolled omelette ended in tragic disaster. :?

Oh, and I think I once made a chicken pie from scratch.

don't forget to put a spoon of curry powder in that one. It really brings out the flavour but doesnt make it taste really of curry.
Ooh, I'll have to try that next time. 8)

And the thing about what you were raised on - makes me think. It's only recently that I started doing all my own cooking, so I think I'm still in the "try all the odd stuff that nobody else in the house would have liked, because haha, they don't have to eat it!" phase. Eventually I'll probably try more of the stuff I've had for years and mix in some of the new stuff as well.

I do have a recipe book from my grandmother that's one of my prized possessions. ^_^ (Meatloaf with pickles and cheese, it is ever so good.) And I do mean to get some of my mom's recipes sooner or later, like chicken and rice pie. Though many of those are meat-based recipes, so I'll still have to get over that cooking-meat thing of mine. :P

I would have starved long ago if I didn't know how to cook for myself. I learned all of my mom's recipes but unlike her...I don't typically let the smoke alarm be my cooking timer

My homemade favorites include; chili soup, chicken dumplings, homemade pizza, lasagna, manicotti, pepper steak, strawberry pie, a raspberry juice flavored fruit salad, chicken soft tacos, enchiritos, pork ribs in a custom marinade, and fried potatoes cheese flavored.

Jeesh now I am hungry ^_^

i "can" cook, i've spent enough time with my grandmother and mother in the kitchen to know what i'm doing, but i seldom bother. I can make a decent dish of pasta if the sauce is already heated (who can't?), i can make cookies, pancakes, eggs, Ovu Spatuto(sp?) ... which is basicaly raw eggs, sugar and bread ... it's an italian breakfast thing, and it's pretty good too ... meh i can make a few things ...

I hope you're not going to eat all of that ^^
