Well, that might get you a nice, quick (but rather pricey) ride to the con, but probably not help you get in.

I'm just glad that I didn't make any bets about getting into the convention *snicker* beyond promising myself to get real hosting if I make it into the contest...

Although i would like to make the contest and win (who doesn't ??) I just cant wait to see people's reactions to my vid . Thats the real fun.

Anou... I know I'm probably going to look like a real dumbass for this, but what does "CLATU, VERATA, NIKKTU" refer to...?

Not a dumbass- just less of a nerd than a lot of us. It's from two places, actually- I'm sure of one, less sure of the other.

Originally, if my memory is right, it's from The Day the Earth Stood Still, and was a password/invocation to activate a robot (never actually seen the movie, sorry...).

In the context we're using it, it's from Army of Darkness, where it is the 'magical words' necessary for several spells involving the Necronomicon. Bruce Campbell's character, Ash (where my nickname comes from), has a minor problem remembering them properly...

But really, the suspense is killing me. I can't wait to find out if I got in or not. My therapist calls it "closure".

Actually, the words were to STOP the Robot (Gort) from zapping you into oblivion.

And just to prove how much of a nerd I am, put in a copy of Tron, and keep a sharp eye on the screen. Bruce Boxleitner's character (the "real-world" one) has got those words on a bumper sticker tacked onto his cubicle wall at ENCOM.

Yes, the tension's getting to me.
