Is there an easier way to compress and encode vids?

If you have questions about compression/encoding/converting look here.

If you've already made your movie, then you don't need to bother with AVS or VirtualDub. Once you're done editing, the only thing that should be left to do is make the appropriate output file. For a class project, I'd suggest MPEG compression.

Ummm... If you want a reasonable file size (30 megs in comparison to 80) YES, you do need to use Vdub. The problem is, Premiere doesn't allow you to MP3 compress your audio, and the best it can do is uncompressed WAV. If you output your video in Uncompressed or Huffyuv from Premiere, and then import it in Virtualdub, you can then compress it in your favorite video codec, and also compress the audio with LAME or at the same time.

@_@ wa.....ha...ha........so many things to do....

ok anyone remember the VIDEO SETTINGS
it says in the guide to scroll the compressor option to either huffyuv or something else...but it doesn't give that option! there's something else (which i think is probably the default)
personally...if i just export it in premier i think it'll turn out alright.
.....ooohhh kill me!

Is your source footage interlaced? Does each frame look like two frames that got blended together with lots of lines going across the screen? If so, you need to play one field first; otherwise, go with "no fields."

You need to download the HuffYUV codec to use it, but you don't need to use it right now. I don't use it ever.

It will. I can't hear the difference between MP3 and some of Premiere's options, so I just export from Premiere with ADPCM audio and DivX video (or XviD if I want my video to look grainy).

The sound is not why I compress. I compress so that you might have a quicker download than if I had left the audio uncompressed.
