LIVE-ACTION EVANGELION AND THOUGHTS ABOUT IT!!!

Sup everyone,

What do y'all think about great anime's such as Neon Genesis Evangleion being turned into a live action? Personally I hate the idea, I mean sure it would be interesting but i'm just worried that they are going to butcher it. The thought alone pisses me off

I just hope that they pick the actors well, I mean if they put Brad Pitt or Tom Cruse to play Ikari Gendou or Jenfer Lopez or Julia Roberts to play Souryu Asuka Langley (I know that, that sound completly improbable but I'm pissed so get off my back!) I recently read in play magazine an article about the live action Neon Genesis Evangelion, they compiled a list of who they thought would be the best to play the main roles. And while I don't remember most of the characters I do remember one, Play magazine belived that the best actor to play Ikari Shinji is, get this, Haley Joel Osment...Haley Joel Osment to play Ikari Shinji!!!! but luckly this is only what Play magazine thinks would be the best actor for that part But still....it just brings shivers down my back at the mear thought of mr "I see dead people" playing Shinji....But anyway who do you thnik would be the best actors and actresses to act in the New Live-action Neon Genesis Evangleion movie? And how do you thlnk its going to turn out? Any fears? Any hopes? Well say it!

The current industry rumour is that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) will be playing Shinji.

I am a little worried. However, think of this: if the actor WERE Daniel Radcliffe, maybe all the Harry Potter or Daniel Radcliffe fans would see this movie. That could bring a lot of attention to this. I am only speculating.

Haley Joel Osment did alright in Kingdom Hearts as Sora. He's not just 'that kid from the Sixth Sense'. As for Daniel, well, the HP movies have put me into serious doubt regarding his acting abilities. He wasn't an actor per se in the first place. The role compromises a lot of aspects of the human personality, which any actor might be able to portray some of, but his range (from the bouncy, competing-with-Asuka typical kid to the horribly depressed teenager) would need to be impressive.

Yeh, I really don't think they could ever summerize the true depth of Evangelion in such short time. And tbh, having well known actors in it wouldn't result in anything but another actionmovie for the cinemas

This movie will turn out like crap unless I personally write and direct it myself

Daniel would make a way better Shinji than Haley, if not for the fact that he has a british accent

I know Haley more as "that kid from Steven Spielberg's Artificial Intelligence" than as "that kid from The Sixth Sense" because I made an AI music video. He's also "that kid from Pay it Forward"

However, the guy who played John Connor in T3 would beat them both as Shinji

There is no one in hollywood who could do Rei well. Period. But if I had to choose someone... Britney Spears. She has a high-pitched enough voice...

The more I watch Rah Xephon, the more I think Carrie-Ann Moss (AKA Trinity from The Matrix) would make an okay Misato Katsuragi.

And it just doesn't require much acting skill to bitch at people, so anyone could do Asuka. However, if you're looking for an authentic European accent, that chick from the American Pie movies would do very well.

Jonathan Frakes as Gendo. Oh yeah.

I don't think anyone whould bash the movie before we have somekind of story or footage. It could suck, but it could also be a LOTR like blockbuster.

Evangelion has anything in it to make for a good film. Three hours is a damn lot of time, several of the angel battles could be skipped or just vaguely mentioned/hinted, seeing as it isn't the most important part of evangelion.

And I've also learned not to lprejudice movies because of their cast, since several movies with a doubtfull cast turned out to be quite good, and vice versa.

Just sit back and wait.

I was thinking of John Lithgow for that role.
