spammers these days. so annoying. Phade should get out his shotgun and deal with you snotty folks. him and the mods will rid you from this holy land like Soloman and the third invasion. [no sarcasm intended]

back to topic. Music everybody, to your stations.

If tomorrow all the videos were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my computer and my mind.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the net still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an creator where as least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who tried, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend it still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this craft Phade bless the O.R.G.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,

From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every creator's heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:

I’m proud to be a creator where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who tried, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend it still today.

Now let's do the whole thing together everyone! [note to mods...delete the top one plz...]

If tomorrow all the videos were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my computer and my mind.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the net still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an creator,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who tried,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend it still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this craft,
Phade bless the ORG.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every creators heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an creator,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who tried,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend it still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this craft,
Phade bless the ORG.

And I’m proud to be and Creator,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who tried,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this craft,
Phade bless the ORG.

with that law. It might be a good idea to write our local congressmen and senators and tell them that we are strongly against this. Most things I've seen so far have been done legally. We need to do something to let legislators know that we do not want this law.

Gee willikers, you didn't include any reference to the song or song writer that you so blatently stole and insuffeciently modified that from.
COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT!!!
I'm telling on you!

Seriously though, I don't think (read as hope) the org is in any trouble with the RIAA. I think they'll be too preoccupied monitoring P2P programs to worry about us.

Unlikely. The new proposal is just to be more aggressive about pursuing copyright infringement, not really to outlaw anything that isn't already illegal. You should be protesting the existing copyright laws.

I don't really care what the RIAA does. If they want to spend years chasing after every American who ever downloaded a song, that's their right. I do feel sorry for independent CD store owners who have been put out of business, but seriously - the only people you really hear complaining are the RIAA and the really popular artists, all of whom already have more money than God. It's kind of hard to work up a whole lot of sympathy for their "cause," however legal it might be.

I also think it's rather naive of them to assume that every one of those downloaders is suddenly going to rush out and buy CDs again. I buy CDs from local and collegiate a capella groups, but the only commercial CDs I ever buy are those I use to mave AMVs, and then only if I can't find one in a used CD store or from one of my friends. So the RIAA doesn't make any money off me anyway <shrugs>.

I think the eventual solution would be some kind of encrypted software that's impossible to copy/rip. Granted, there are always ways of getting around this, but I doubt billions of people worldwide would flood the "black market" with demands for such piracy products. Moreover, any site that nowadays blatantly file swaps would be shut down in an instant.

As people keep saying, cracking down on illegal file swapping/sharing/borrowing (hey, yeah, what if you gave it back? does that count?) by prosecuting the swappers is like trying to crack down on underage smoking - it's a lot easier to keep the products away from the kids than it is to keep the kids away from the products (that makes sense, I swear it does). In other words, if all cigarettes are locked up at Federal Cigarette Fortresses and can only be purchased there, the naughty teens are not going to be able to con smokes at the local 5&10 store. Yeah, they'll still try (and be caught) and still get cigarettes elsewhere, but it's going to be a hell of a lot harder.

Ok, minor tangent, sorry. er hem...

In swappers' defense, it's sort of like expecting someone to leave a $1 bill found on the ground in a deserted parking lot instead of picking it up and taking it home. Yeah it belongs to someone else, yeah it's not much money, but if you don't grab it someone else will and besides, the one who lost it lost it, it's not their's anymore so it doesn't matter where it ends up. And I don't think the police are going to issue a search warrant for a lost $1 bill, nevermind arrest the person who picked it up and didn't turn it into the authorities. Credit cards, people, CREDIT CARDS are the way of the future! Never lose a cent again and lock up the bastards who try to tap into your funds! Hurrah for me and my analogies!
