Do you have Avisynth 2.5 versions of the plugins?

There was a big programming change between version 2.x and 2.5x which makes all old plugins not work.

amvapp uses old type plugins and the guide recommends you use the amvapp. When things go wrong, it's often because you havent followed the guide. Similarly this is NOT an unrecognized exception error.

go to www.avisynth.org for links to 2.5x compatible plugins including mpeg2dec3.dll which is required for mpeg2source()

Wait a sec, is it because I switched to WinXP and I'm having trouble figuring out how to give "write permission" to the proper system folders?!

[error msg keeps poppin' up...]

You need to be an administrator in winxp to change system files.

This is really all that's known to fix it. If it still doesn't work. You may have to think about re-installing windows. :\

my problem was just that I didn't rip the vobs to take the copyright info off before I transfered them into editable material. The guide touches on this but due to past experience with Gordian Knot I just ignored it thinking dvd2avi would do it for me but... anyway it would be nice if in the dvd2avi section you make it clear that dvd2avi will NOT decrypt it for you.
