Org Storage Server Update

Hey All,

I have some good news and some bad news about the Org’s storage server.

The bad news: The current Carrot server is literally 99% full. Uploads to that server will be shut down soon. Downloads will not be affected.

The good news: The full Golden Donut storage server has arrived and is being configured right now! The machine has a capacity more than 8 times that of the Carrot server. As soon as we have completed the transfer to the new machine, uploads will resume. If all goes well, it should be something in the neighborhood of 24 hours or so.

I will keep you informed as things go. Thanks again and have fun!! ^_^

Yes, good show! The Carrot lasted almost 5 months! If the Donut has 8 times that, shouldn't it be able to last around 40 months? That would be awesome, of course we still have to donate! Just because the Donut is coming, doesn't mean that we have to stop donating and let it fall! We should continue to donate and make the Donut grow!

Excellent! And just in time for me too. I had just finished making my first video which was done to game footage, so I was going to have to wait for the Donut to go up before loading it. I'll be sure to drop a donation as well.

considering how long the carrot server has lasted before filling up, i wonder how big the donut it. in size that is, not just '8 times bigger'

The Donut server is about ~1TB in storage space.

Yeah, I expect the server space to last about a year before we need to upgrade again.

What will make Donut fill up faster is that a year from mow, the typical AMV may be around 140MB. (..and me still living in dial-up la-la land

)

People will be making 800x600's at 48- or 64- color depth, 60 fpm .... etc.
