and this is from a taiwanese news site, for crying out loud. . .
And the Bill of Rights, with one exception, is a list of the rights of individuals against the state, not a list of claims by individuals on services to be provided by the state; the one exception is the right to a trial by jury. All residual rights are reserved to the people.

The proposed EU constitution is very different in several dimensions. The preamble goes on and on for 293 words to describe the shared values and objectives of the Union; this is wholly unnecessary and sure to provoke continued controversy.

I like our Constitution. Very fine document that has served us well for 227 years.

Good luck to the EU, though. Their constitution is going to be a far more controversial and shaky document, I'm willing to bet, since they're dealing with multiple NATIONS, each with their own national identity. France, in particular, may be trouble (considering how protective they are of their ways).

They can either squelch their own individual identities and forge a new "European identity" or pretty much forget about being as unified as the USA.

Assuming they go for the "Euro Identity", who will help mandate what that is? I say Germany, myself, since they've almost forced their ways on the Continent twice in the last century anyway  .
I'm out...

I'm glad that England is relatively Euro-sceptic for the time being. We need to see how it works out before we jump on board.

Plus, I don't want to have to use Euros.

It'll most likely hold if their common interests are stronger than their differences.
