I was watching the Sci-Fi channels annual anime marathon around the age of 11 of 12. They were running "Dominion Tank Police". I didn't have a clue until then people actually made cartoons for more adult audiences.

I caught a Tenchi movie, and some other weird anime once in a while on Sci-Fi's Saturday morning animation line-up. Really, I was just watching the Sci-Fi line-up for "Stingray", and "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons" (supermarionation shows made by Gerry Anderson, the creator of "Thunderbirds").

As anime was slowly ditched by the Sci-Fi channel, I pretty much just gave up on it. Eventually, though, I caught a few episodes of "Robotech", "Ronin Warriors", the really old "Dragonball Z" stuff, and maybe a disturbing episode or two of "Sailor Moon", when I got the schedule mixed up (damnit, I was trying to record "ReBoot"!).

Finally, "Gundam Wing" came on, and I started to get into that. By the end of the first week, I was checking out "Mobile Suit Gundam" websites, trying to learn everything I could (this was the reason I actually bothered to learn how to surf the internet, and not remain in the realm of microcomputers with 8k of RAM and tape-recorders).

From then on, I caught bits and pieces of other anime running on Cartoon Network.

When my parents bought digital cable a year or two back, I began watching the Action Channel every once in a while. One day, my family and I were taking a break from painting the upstairs bedrooms, and we stumbled upon "Tekkaman Blade II". I had watched the horribly slaughtered version of "Tekkaman Blade" (aka, "Teknoman") on UPN Sunday mornings, and proceeded to begin a detailed investigation on the web as to where it went (after I became familiar with the internet with all my "Mobile Suit Gundam" research). A few weeks later, I stumbled upon Suncoast Video at the mall, and found their whole wall of anime. Within a couple minutes, I found "Tekkaman Blade II", and bought the first tape.

Eventually, when I took off to college, I met a couple people really into anime, and they slowly tried to educate me on the subject. From then on, I was catching Cartoon Network's Adult Swim anime line-up. Last September, they introduced me to "Evangelion", and "The Slayers". I tried to arrange an anime night on Saturdays, to get people just learning about the stuff like me to mingle with those who knew what was going on, but it never took off. Funny thing about nerds: they don't like to socialize.

So, now I've been pretty much catching whatever anime I can find on Cartoon Network, Tech TV, the Action Channel, and the International Channel. When I'm not watching anime, I'm usually watching whatever's on the History Channel, or the Fox News Channel when I'm on-line (I like the background noise). So, right now, I'm watching the Fox News Channel.

Then a friend showed me the most wonderfull thing ... a store that sold anime and manga!!!

It's pretty much all Scintilla's fault. He gave me "Love Hina 1-4" and a few AMVs on CD as a "no reason" gift and I started to get into it then (I'm a sucker for cute comedies). Then he brought over Fushigi Yuugi and FLCL....and I was hooked. :P

One day, Cartoon Network was aired in my local area and I decided to watch it. Some of you probably know the anime that they aired a some many years ago...(Ronin Warriors, DBZ, Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo/Universe/in Tokyo just to name a few)
I saw DBZ and liked it. I moved on to Pokemon, and Digimon and so on and so forth. Before I knew it, I was researching for anime and stuff. At age 16, it's safe to say I'm an Otaku...

(was this long post necessary? no, but after all, I think a lot... :? )

I had a stupid fight with my three person hangout crew...long story short, they started to go out, and I was left over.

Got into a depression and recluse for senior yr around Christmas. Too much of a good kid for drugs, too weak to deal with depression, alcohol wasn't legal, cigarettes are too addicting, too cold for ice cream,(for those that don't know, those are all different products to use for depression)

so my boy lent me his small fortune of anime and my whole life as an otaku started with Cowboy Bebop around Christmas. I must say its better than cut rate backstabbing friends who go out with one another behind my back.

I used to watch Sailor Moon and Mighty Max everyday before school when I was little. But that didn't hook me. During my senior year in high school my brother started watching DBZ, but that didn't do it for me either. It wasn't until I went to college that a friend introduced me to Cowboy Bebop that I got hooked. I wanted to watch more, and more, and more......well you get the point.

I don't know what really "hooked" me, I saw Project A-Ko and The Venus Wars back-to-back on Sci-Fi channle while I was on vacation. After that, my friend Lee started showing me Ranma 1/2, and the video store I worked at had on original release of Akira (subbed) in the "other" section, so I saw it and I think I was hooked after that, though I think my friend WWB contributed to it by getting me hooked on the whole Gundam Model thing
