game footage

Post by Arigatomina » Sat Aug 09, 2003 4:29 pm

Okay, I've only worked with one game - FF8, so I know very little about getting footage from playstation discs. But I want to get footage from Legend of Dragoon and I have no idea how to do it. Since my only experience is with FF8, I compare the two methods - instead of str files I have iki files - already separated in an str folder. And there are xa files, also separated in their own folder. But any attempt I've made to use cdxa or any other program (or various players that are supposed to be able to read iki files) fail to read the files. I'm getting a cd-rom drive read error 3 - I don't know what this is.

So my question: Is there a special way to rip footage from LoD game discs? Like some sort of protection that has to be over ridden? I have various programs that are made for getting psx footage, but none have worked for me with this game. I've tried searches and Quu's guide, but so far I'm clueless. :?

What program are you using to rip the disk? I don't have my copy of Legend of Dragoon with me, so I can't check, but I think it works with PSmplay. You could also try PsxMC. If there are problems reading the video files staight out, you may have to have the program analyze the CD for STR files.

If you need the programs, you can get them here.

Well, that's probably the problem. I have two versions of Psmplay, but so far I don't know how to configure the CD-rom drive, and when I try to play the iki files I get 'This file is unsupported. (CODE = 0000000)
I get that with both versions of that program. I don't have PsxMC - I'll search that one out and try it next. ^_^;; But I don't know how to make the program (which program?) analyze the cd...

PSXmc should be able to do it, but I don't have a link for it. I think it's in Quu's guide somewhere.

Yes, I just downloaded PsxMC (quick google search, nice and easy). ^_^

It's analyzing the cd - not what I thought that meant, but it's looking for streams, so I think it will do the trick. Thanks!
