but i have heard stuff about hell sing and love hina and slayers.
i have only seen the second season of slayers, called slayers next, and the movie. mainly about a sorseress named lina who is in search of the ultimate spell book called the clair bible. it does fit the qualitys you are looking for.

a few others would include eva, flcl, magic knight rayearth, full metal panic, duel, and outlaw star.
i have just purchesed the first dvd box of s-cry-ed and it seems to have the qualitys you seek as well. can't be to sure though only has fives eps.
if you want screwed up humor try excle saga.
for a little more drama try .hack//sign
i like all anime for the most part though so take my advice as you will.
best to find some things that are not on cartoon network. they tend to edit the hell out of them.

I prefer
Azumanga Daioh
Anything Macross
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Anything Patlabor
Cowboy Bebop
Serial Experiment Lain
You're Under Arrest

Check some of those out, they are pretty good in my opinion

Odds are, if you liked Yu Yu Hakusho, you'll like Hunter x Hunter. It's also by Yoshihiro Togash-sama. ^^

Hm.... what else..... so ur an Inu-fan huh? let's see..... Well, u already watch Kenshin, you could try Eva... (Neon Genesis Evangelion) (i think that's been said... ::scrolls up:: yup, it's been said... um....

OH! if you end up liking Eva (all that blood and gore, good plot tho) you would proabably like X and Tokyo Babylon (by CLAMP) It's not girly i promise you..... rather bloody and .... gory-ish... You might like Escaflowne - all this Mecha stuff - ^^;; (i think someone said this too...) ::scrolls up:: damn i'm so repetative....

Um... (trying to think of anime that is not said) A couple people said they didn't like Fushigi Yugi or Ayashi no Ceres, but from the guidlines you gave us:
i like the kind of anime that has a bit of romance, dramma, humor, and action.
i think you'd like those two. The art is beautiful so if you don't like the anime, watch it for the art! ^^

good luck on finding anime!

luvvies <3
