I'm not sure if you can download a version of wmm 1.0, but 2.0 does work on other computers besides XP. If you'd like to try it on your computer, PM me and I'll see what I can do (I know Millenium's version of wmm 1.0 works on XP, so the system may not matter too much).
But really, if you're looking for a good movie maker, you should try Premiere. That's what most people use, and you can test out the trial versions to see if you're interested in buying it.

Premiere and good in the same sentance? But really, if you're looking for a good movie maker, you should try Premiere.
I tried to put the 30-day trial and it crashed within one minute of operation, repeatedly.
When ever in doubt about getting a bad review remember these words; Shut up and make it better.

I was just repeating the general consensus I've gotten for it. ^_~ I wouldn't touch Premiere, myself. If I want problems, I have enough with wmm 2.0 and Showbiz. ^_^; But it's the most commonly recommended 'good' editor I know of, so I try to mention it before helping people with editors that I actually know how to use.Sporkmaster wrote:Premiere and good in the same sentance? But really, if you're looking for a good movie maker, you should try Premiere.

bastard of a friend has unlimited bandwidth on his cable and still forgets to DL premiere for me. go figure.
is .wma's acceptable here in this, of all places? i really wanna know, cos all of my current clips are made in wmm 2.0 and am too ashamed to host the files lest i shame myself here. its a pride thing, i suppose, but still needed to be answered.

All of my videos were made using either Windows movie maker 1.0 or (more recently) 2.0 - and I haven't had many complaints as of late, so I don't think the editor matters all that much. And you can use wmv - you'll just get better quality with other formats. I'd recommend experimenting with wmm 2.0 - you *can* get your files into more than just wmv, with a little tweaking. If you have windows XP and Showbiz (in the arcsoft folder), I'd recommend experimenting with it to get your final timeline at a nice quality.squidgy wrote:bastard of a friend has unlimited bandwidth on his cable and still forgets to DL premiere for me. go figure.

Anyway, to answer the question - wmv is *much* better accepted than other formats (rm, for example), but if you can manage an mpg or avi, you'll be doing better. Either way, it depends on the vid more than the movie maker. ^_~
