And you think American news is biased?

Post by madmallard » Mon Aug 18, 2003 12:43 pm

From our good friend Solid KZ, NOT a newscompany, currently stationed in Iraq:
Update Time...

Any Credibility that Al Jazeera may have had before today has been smashed. Today a demonstration was to be held to demand the release of an Imam who was a close personal friend of Saddam and used his Mosque to store weapons and as a Refuge for Baath Party members. The Demonstration was to be broadcast live on the Arab News Network and they wanted to get real exclusive News. They wanted Americans to fire on the crowds. In order to ensure that we would, they PAID people to carry weapons in the crowd and to fire them at us in order to provoke a Violent Response from US troops.

Thing is, this isn't the first time Al Jazeera has PAID for the spreading of Anti-American Sentiments in this country or even this city. And these people are so desperate for money right now that they will do anything for it. A little boy who used to hang out at the Gate of the Civilian/Miltary Operations Center (C-MOC) and has since we occupied the building was given money and photos of Saddam Hussein and told to run through the streets shouting Anti-American slogans. Now, this boy had until that day been at the C-Moc every day, hanging out with American Soldiers who treated him pretty well. When stopped by us and asked why he was shouting such things, he replied that two men had paid him to do so. ... The two men turned out to be Local Al Jazeera correspondents.

Nothing like making your own news, eh?

What the fuck are you talking about

News HAS to be biased in order to get ratings, whether it's biased on simple things, or global things, there is bias in the news.

Reminds me of a photograph I saw about a year ago. It showed a group of maybe 20 photo-journalists and camera-men taking a picture of a Palestinian boy in the act of throwing a rock. Apparently, someone was across the street photographing the whole setup / scam / scene. I assume they had to redo the take after removing the spoil-sport from the vicinity.

It's not too different from what happens here with footage of so-called demonstrations by animal-rights activists, race activists, etc. These are all staged events. They call the newsapers and tv stations ahead of time to make sure that some cameras are there to record the "news".

The Fox News Channel isn't biased. Granted, the hosts of their specialty shows (The O'Reilly Factor, Your World with Neil Cavuto, Cashin' In, and On the Record with Greta van Sustrein) are biased one way or the other (libeal or conservative, or a moderate in O'Reilly's case), but the anchors and reporters which chime in every half hour during a commerical break are not allowed the same bias, and keep straight to the facts.

uhm. . .yeah. . ., the point was hypocracy.

The point being that many people who are quick to judge the media without bothering to do any research for themselves on the voracity of the facts are stupid. Those are the people that freely criticise the press saying they are biased, they only tell one side of the story, or they twist the facts or in the new york time's case, they make up stuff. They call that being biased and they use the term "bias" in a bad light.

now then, if one editor in a news paper being a moron, or one news anchor tells only one side of the story, or they just seem to have a left or right slant, if any of those things nets being called "Bias" and makes you flame bait. . . .

then what in the hell do you call Al Jazeera?

Who?

If this is true, why hasn't he reported it to BBC, CNN, Guardian, Fox, Reuters, etc. or doesn't he just know a scoop when he sees one?
Some real proof would also help.....

thats who. Military photographer/videographer.

and "if this is true" do you think guardian or bbc or any AP would want to publish a story that may actually paint the US in a good light? They'll post bad news about america before bad news about someone else.

Well, I can easily believe Al Jazeera lost credibility...

However, I must note that American networks or especially American troops had none to begin with.

Pheesh...

I know I'm supposed to stay out of this, but here's food for thought:

American troops are in there on their own fucking free will and getting paid for it. So you know what, if they're in there, paid and on their own free will, why don't they shut the fuck up and face the repercussions of their choices.

And stop blaming Al Jazeeba, Al Quida, and Al Sodom and other fictionally evil Al forces.

I'm still yet to see a sign of remorse in America regarding the death of both armed and innocent Iraqis, so you know what - fuck it.

Americans have their power out for a day, for just a part of the population, and they cry a river about it. Who's complaining about the situation in Iraq? Noone. A lot of innocent people died from American fire, and noone gave a shit, but a half-dozen Americans get killed and everyone's sadsadsad.

So, I'll just say this - as long as the hypocricy continues, I'll be quite content with the deaths of American troops there, present and future. Quite. Content.

I now return to my self-imposed ban on political discussions. Apologies to those offended, and having stated my point, I see no further reason for my presence in this discussion. I know good and well how convinced and stubborn people are about their political views.
