I guess I'll talk with you offline (which is really online) about details since I *think* I know what you're talking about.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:You wont be the only one in that early. I think Vlad is in at 4:30 or something like that.dwchang wrote:Well if I come in around 7, I imagine I'd be out of the airport by around 7:20 - 7:30...how far away is it? Basically with the 7 arrival, I can leave around ~2 from Austin. The other flight is like leaving at 11 and comes in at 4 or something. That's too early for me to justify taking a half-day .
Plus I know someone who'll be there who could probably do with some help putting together a fan parody on the thursday if you are feeling theatrical or technical

If you take the second flight, I won't have to wait 4 hours at the airport for you to get in, and that would be good I guess.Hitori wrote:I'm looking at trying to get in at around 4pm thursday....(that's if I take the 7hr flight..)
or
1pm thursday(if I take the non-stop flight that's about 3hrs..)

Don't worry- I don't think it will be coming down to AWA with me. It takes up an absurd amount of space in my luggage, and I need room for formalwear for the dance Friday night. I'll probably bring the dog ears, though.

Well I said I would have final details on the dinner by Monday. How does Tuesday sound instead?
Here's where I'm at right now.
I've got the restaurant narrowed down to the local Carrabba's Italian Grill. Carrabba's won out for several reasons including being within walking distance, good quality without totally ripping you off, and they were the most open and welcome to our group.
What isn't finalized is a dinner time. When I visited Carrabba's the main manager wasn't there so I need to talk to him Monday. It turns out Thursday night is a very busy night for all of the local restaurants, all of which are also petit size compared to other similar restaurants. 7:00-9:00 is the busy time for the crowds. In addition to that it turns out that there is an AWA staff meeting Thursday night at 8:00. Myself and a few others are on staff for AWA this year. Now this meeting should only last half an hour so I figure between dealing with a large group and the crowds and the meeting a new dinner time of 9:00 would be the best compromise. Normally Carrabba's closes at 10:00 but if they would be willing to stay open an additional hour for us I think we'll be alright.
The good news about a 9:00 time is it will allow more people to arrive and it will give everyone time to check in to their rooms and get their con badges for those who pre-registered. The bad news is you'll need to eat a good lunch that day.
Again, nothing is set just yet. I need to talk to the restaurant manager which I will try to do Monday. Once I have done that and arrangements have been made I will post final details with times firmly set.
