Allo! Yes the glue does work on ur hair, and is realitivly safe, it just takes a L O N G time to dry and you kinda have to keep ur head upside down till it does dry if ur tryin to get spikes or hair that defys gravity... Belive me thats a real pain in teh @$$. 
And when it comes to the wax, I wouldnt do it, it really hurts to get the stuff out. AT least it did for meh, but then again I have pretty long hair... But still Evil wax...

lol, well itz tru...like I said b4 the best way to go is with glue or mega uphold gel. (SpIrAlZ is EXTREEMLY usefull) and glue comes out wit a simple scrubbing and shampoo. If nobodys told you already, DO NOT use jell-o. Unless you want a really messed up hair-week
