Seeing as I edit entirely in After Effects, anything that takes me less than 3 months solid (8 hours a day) is too short. I just finished a video a little while ago to meet a deadline, and it'll be at least another month or so before I finish going back and doing all the neat little things I wanted to do and making the video make more sense. Yes, I made plotless slog. I feel so dirty :(

Well, so far my group has done one "quick" AMV where our leader got us around to his place and said "right, we're going to do a quick one now". We didn't sweat the details and used not-very-good quality fansubs without removing the subtitles. We did about a minute or so, then the entire project froze up in an attack of apathy. A few weeks later I got together with the third member at his place (at the time I didn't have this sw33t new computer) and we put in a solid days work, finishing it just before midnight (of course, that included me watching the rest of the anime first).

On the other hand, when I'm running the show I have an attitude of "quality, quality, quality". Since I get quite anal on minor details and tend to dwell on anything I'm not fully happy with (and lack technical skill) my first solo AMV (which is admittedly a lot more complex, being Goo Goo Dolls rather than Offspring) has so far taken over a month and I'm still stuck on the final repetition of the chorus. What's worse, I have to have the damn thing done in enough time to let me do another quick one by September 10th. Ouch.

Strangely enough, I'd been imagining that most normal AMV makers could produce a good AMV in a week at most and that I was just plain lazy. I feel a lot better now that I know better.
