He looks at me and because i'm nearly the exact opposite of him when he was my age, he thinks he did some thing right ... well unlike him, i haven't put 4 in the hospital by the age of 17 ... but any ways, my dads a heavy equipment operator, so he works fucked up hours and i never got to see him an awful lot, so for whatever reason i'm afraid to talk with him ... for no logical reason ... it's jsut an ingrained fear of mine.

But any ways, my dad never really cares too much about what i do, if i ask odds are he'lllet me do it. my mother onthe other hand ... she shits a brick whenever i tell her i'm going for a bike ride ... all becacuse my uncles brother had to write himself off on a motorcycle 5 months ago ... thanks Frank ...

ok that was wrong ... Frank was nice guy with some bad luck ... i guess that all.

your uncles brother? doesn't that just make him another uncle?

Anyway, yeah, me and my Dad are just about the exact opposite, but not in what we do, in responcability. As for illegal activies, I'm a lot mroe responcable than him. Like I can drink maturly, I havn't thrown up form it in years,m I don't drink and drive, I don't really vandalize. If I'm going to do something under age, illegal, or what ever, I don't jakc around, I do it responcably. But financialy, my Dad has been working ever since he was 15 and paid for absolutley EVERYTHING his entire life. School, his car, just about anyhting you can think of. I on the other hand, am not finacnialy responcable. I make plenty of money to pay my bills, yet barley get my bills paid because I spend my money on things I shouldn't, my Dad hates that.

But yeah, if I ask him to do something he'll tend to elt me do what ever I want. It's just the way we handle things is completley opposite.

yea i guess so ... i never really called him Zio (uncle in italian) though, probably because he was pretty young.

I think it's just that italians are very independant. They do a lot of work for themselves and just think that's the way it goes.

So they leave their kids to do what ever they want as well.

Like when I go to go out for the night, my Dad will tell me not to get any girls pregnant, not tod rink and drive, that sort of deal.

I think the most my Grandpa ever told my Dad was, "If you get a girl pregnant, you're taking care of it, and we're not helping you"

I think they just leave you to be who you are, believing that if you're meant to be succsessfull you'll make the right choices.

And I mean if you had all this independance growing up and you turned out as well as you did, don't you trust your own kid that you already raised through child hood to make the same good choices and decisions?

I think it's just simple cause and effect. "It worked for my dad, so I'll do it too"

My mom never watches. My dad liked Gasaraki and Cowboy Bebop. My twin thinks it's for kids. Then he sees excel saga, complains that it's sick and now he thinks that I have shunned my south asian heritage for japaneese.
... and that's the story of how you were born
NOOOOOO!

that holds true for those who don't do any work at all

yea, and if our not succesful then it's belived that your somone elses kid and deserve to be a bum on the street. yet if you are successful, and they know your somone elses kid they treat you better then their own as long as you give them some money ... actualy i guess it works that way almost everywhere ... so i was jsut blathering about some well known fact ... nice.

Same thing happens to me, no one really didn't mind until we had to give introduction and my english teacher says "oh and he also like japanese films and anime." Then all the bugging started....but most are okay...

I know a couple of people who saw some hentai on sci-fi channel and say the same thing, but then I just laugh at them and call them hypocrites as they watched the entire thing.

Allia wrote:I don't really like my parents watching anime with me especially if I have not seen it. Eventhough I'm a girl I don't really like the girly shows like Card Captors and the such although my first anime was Sailor Moon. Anyway, I like the fighting and action. So when I watched Battle Arena Toshinden for the first time I was glad that my parents did not see the breaf fanservice.

My mom supports my anime addiction by helping me with my costumes and taking me and my friends to conventions. I can tell that she is a little worried with what anime I watch so I try to watch it on the laptop in my room. Its not that I think its dirty and I am ashamed that I watch it, no its just they would not understand.

Both my parents loved Mononoke when we saw it for my b-day at a local theater.

My dad I guess supports my drawing of anime but somethimes he asks "why can't you do life like drawings or landscapes?" My art teacher already bothers me with those type of questions I don't need my own father to do the same. I think he might like Cowboy Bebop, maybe.

My little sister on the other hand hates it. She does not support me and calls it just cartoons. She tells me I should grow up. Bla bla bla. She thinks anime is bad and dirty and evil. She just does not understand.

Only a few people in my class like anime although I try to convert them. Everyone else is always bugging me and the others for likeing anime. There is this one guy who knows about henti and thinks that is what all anime is about. So he always thinks we like that kind of anime.

Sorry for making this so long. It's just frustrating to be 16 and haveing no one understand.
I AM ABOUT TO BRAKE! RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE! :D (Sorry could not resist).
As for a piece of advice do not try to convert people. They to have a right to their opinion, no matter how stereotypical or ignorant. You might try showing your best series/OAV to your best buddy but do not insist on it too heavily.Easy does it!
