Techno Fans, What's Good?

I like Techno, but I don't really listen to it because I don't know enough about it. Anyone would get tired of listening to the same few artists of ANY genre, and I really just don't know what to turn to next.

The stuff I do like:

Gladiator remix by Dreamgate (probably my favorite techno song)
some ATB (loved Rain over Paradise, but prefer something that doesn't take as long to pick up, loved Let You Go)
Some DDR stuff: Erotica, Bambee, Smile
Liked the jungle remix of fly me to the moon, from eva
Like most two mix songs that were used in Gundam Wing that have vocals (Rythem Emotion, White Reflection I think it was? ect.)
I liked the song Koop used for Euphoria as well.

This is pretty much everything I know, as to why I don't listen to much techno. I got sick of listening to the same stuff over and voer again, and I don't know what else I should check out.

What should I look into?

Two-Mix, as you mentioned, is good. A fine trance track is "Beauty Of Silence" by Svenson and Johan Gielen. Juno Reactor does some good stuff, too. Also try out The Crystal Method. VNV Nation does some moody "darkwave" stuff that some people might like.

Yeah, I had some Crystal method and liked it a lot. I'm checking out all those artists now.

VNV Nation is amazing. I love those guys. Definitely check out Genesis by them.

DJ Tiesto is another good one, safe bet. All his stuff is really sweet.
I've got quite a few songs from Robert Miles if you like instrumentals, Paul Oakenfold full on live mixes (generally 2-3 hours long) are always a great listen, as is Paul Van Dyk.

DJ Keoki is popular if you like faster beats in songs, I'm not exactly a huge fan of his.

Dj Aligator Project is pretty good with rap(ish) mixes, I would check out Welcome to Future by them.

Chris Fortier, Pete Tong, Darude, Delerium, all good choices as well.

Mr. Oizo - best known for Flat Beat and that darn muppet.

Kraftwerk, one of the original electronica artists, a bit minimalist.

Fragma, DJ Sammy, Darude...

Chemical Bros...

VNV Nation... I think they'd probably be best described as EBM (electronic body music, a subgenre of Industrial).

BT (Brian Transeau) is always a good bet. ErMaC used his "Satellite" for the AMV called I Pray. This song, by the way, is not representative of all of BT's music; he covers a variety of styles. His latest CD - just released a few weeks ago - is called "Emotional Technology".

Ayla (DJ Tandu) hasn't released much recently, but his songs were always popular. Some samples are at his Web site, http://www.djtandu.de/. I've used a couple of his pieces for AMVs.

If you want female vocals, try anything by 4 Strings (my current avatar) or Ian Van Dahl (see MeriC's video, Liberation of Memories Past).

There are several Web sites that play various forms of electronica. The one I use is called Digitally Imported. Try listening to one of their stations for a few weeks. You're bound to hear something you like.

That's where I discovered a new amateur DJ by the name of Lombardi. His latest set, Eternal Fall, is incredible...and available. You can find out more at his site: http://www.trancefussion.com.

Lastly, there's a couple of Israeli guys that go by the name of Astral Projection. They do Goa/psy trance. I don't know what to say about them except that I stop whatever I'm doing when one of their tracks starts playing. Many of their songs are hosted at mp3.com. As TaranT mentioned, BT is quite awesome, however I was REALLY dissapointed with his new album. His previous work however, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... ">Movement In Still Life</a> is IMHO one of the best electronic music albums ever. Covers a really wide spectrum of genre's from straight up Detroit Techno (Never Gonna Come Back Down), hauntingly beautiful Ambient/Acoustic (Satellite, Shame), to club anthems (Dreaming). GREAT great album.

Other artists to check out:
Underworld - Hard Techno (Absolutely awesome AWESOME group. You've probably heard their song 'Cowgirl' in many'a soundtrack)
Technical Itch - Drum n Bass/Jungle
Dntel - Uh... 'indie electronic?' (Heh yeah I dunno. It's certainly not dance music, but its electronic. Dntel makes up one half of The Postal Service)
Royksopp - Electronica? Again, hard to classify
Amon Tobin - Drum n Bass/Jungle (thanks ALOT Rozard :O)
PPK - Hard Trance

Most of the techno I listen to is the Japanese variety. For some reason it just sounds better to me.

Folder5 is another good J-techno group, although they're almost rock-techno. I highly recommend "Believe"

I also recommend Dream. They did the original "Night of Fire" from Initial D, which was later re-made in English by Niko.

See-Saw is another good one. Ending theme to Gundam Seed is the only thing I've heard from them so far, but I'm in love with it.

And if you haven't heard it already (though I'm sure you have), the Planit B Remix of Utada Hikaru's "Simple and Clean"/"Hikari" kicks a good amount of ass.
